我觉得应该选B。Manhatan上有这样一个例子，the more than 50 plants，more than 修饰数量50；more than the 50 plants，more than修饰plants。这类人是特指的，应该有the，即 the half of nearly 8 million people，half of nearly 8 million 修饰people。或者half of the nearly 8 million people。live within表示住在一定范围之内，后面应该有明显的表示界限的词吧，比如live within the city border。我是这样理解的，可能不正确。要是我找到了答案，我再来告诉你。

within的用法指在一定的border或limit之内，排AC。
identify as 排 AD。

主要有神奇的定冠词，似乎identifying的发出者不详，（是half 还是全部？B句逻辑上似乎指half,但语义上是全部的。），个人倾向E。

我觉得E应该从逗号排除，逗号前没有完整的主谓，逗号后也没有，而且没有插入成分，这句子逗号将主谓分开了

同意！如果没有the，就变成half成identity的逻辑主语了

这题我还是存疑，prep1-207讲了夹心修饰，如果是B这种结构的话，identifying是做后面动词live的伴随，我搜索了好几种题都是这样，如果是伴随后面的live in的话，那这个identify就是修饰前面的整个的half of一半人了，但是句意是identify是修饰8million的人，一半live in US

“很多人对“夹心修饰”都有过一个误解，认为S, v-ing, V. + O.结构中，v-ing既可以往前修饰S，也可以往后修饰V就是夹心，而实际上夹心并不是“可以往前修饰S，也可以往后修饰V” 。在S, v-ing, V. + O.这样的表达中，v-ing约定俗成只伴随修饰动词，见下例：
