考试时间【待定】

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~华丽丽的分割线(13年3月19日)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
T初战失败后就一直一蹶不振,觉得英语对我来说真是难,尤其我的记忆力还不好,模仿能力还差。周围好友都在复习GMAT,犹豫好久,我才决定重新复习GMAT。我的基础薄弱,我觉得还是循序渐进的比较好,但是自己复习真的好孤单,我还拖延症严重,所以,和朋友先复习GMAT对现在的我来说,是最适合的方法了吧。
【5.30】初战,失败总结。---无论怎样,我都承担。
数学部分还好,比之前模考PREP的时候成绩好。还记得自己之前第一次模考数学分数才29。看到分数真的慌了,那时候还有10天考试。在大家担心自己会不会上7的时候,我还在担心自己这次考试分数会不会有4。我觉得数学可以提升这么快是每天晚上MC老师耐心讲解还有大家帮助的结果,当然也有JJ。特别感谢整理JJ的童鞋们,你们是最可爱的人。
问题还是出在VERBAL部分。考试的时候,最大的感觉就是读不懂!!!!~~~有JJ就按JJ答案选,没有就瞎蒙。SC根本就看不出错误点,和平时做PREP的感觉大不一样。读不懂句子,我就是狒狒。而且,这次到邻近考试的时候,大部分时间都花在做数学JJ上了,SC每天的做题量没有保证,考试前一天做OG,一点儿感觉都没有,感觉自己完全就是在背答案~~~还木有领会语义,语义!!!
沉淀下来后,冷静了思考了一下自己后期的备考过程。后期整个复习状态就不是很好,没有按照自己发在帖子中的计划执行。单词也没有再坚持背。上班后明显的感觉就是整个人变得浮躁了,完全沉淀不下来,即使休息的时候学习效率也不高。番茄强法对那时候的我来说已经没有意义了。后期整理JJ的时候发现,GMAC逻辑翻译成中文都很好理解,文章换成中文问题都能预测,说明啥呢。自己能力不够。基于这样血淋淋的事实,还有之后刷OG有刷不下去的感觉,并且综合了大家意见,小璐果断决定转战托福。
这个帖子会不定期更新数学。MC还是我的好老师。
另附上GMAT780大牛的话------摘自蓝若痕的围脖,共勉。
“GMAT是一个很综合的积累,付出多少努力都会有回报的。况且无论怎样这也只是一个考试,即使输了又怎么样?他不会把你的脑子拿走,这就够了。你的努力,思考,你一切的积累和你的梦想都在你的头脑里。这是不会因为分数而改变的。放轻松。然后坐下来,做出每一次选择就好了。”
(4月19日更新)下面这段话引自童颜公主回小璐的帖子里,小璐觉得很受用,大家共勉:
备考过程里我们都会有很多杂念,或者鸡血,或者悲观,起起伏伏,这都很正常。我们要随时学会调节心情,鸡血的时候让自己平静,悲观的时候让自己振奋,让备考的过程虽然起伏但保持前进就好。比如我现在就没处理好托福和GMAT的关系,因为高估了自己听力的进度,最近发现听力训练所需的时间大大超过原计划,现在正在调整。这些问题呀总是按住了葫芦起了瓢,解决了这个还有那个,咱们都一样,所以不要慌哈,大家都这样在走呢。GT的路太平坦就不是GT了。
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~华丽丽的分割线(正文)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
注册这么久CD,今天才想起开备考贴,想想实在不应该。混混沌沌在CD上闲逛了3个月,临到快要考试才真正意识到自己的不足,看来,我天生就是比别人慢半拍。

开帖子主要有两个目的:1.监督自己的学习情况。不要再没有计划的乱抓。要坚定脚步,时刻提醒自己,不要偏离自己原来的轨迹。
                     2.小璐心内好脆弱,记忆力差,容易放弃。所以需要帖子留下印迹,告诉小璐,小璐到底走了多远。

鼓励自己的话:【这一次,我不再着急。我要脚踏实地。大不了,我可以转战托福,我可以考新G。大不了我可以晚一年再走。我要相信自己。】

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~华丽丽的分割线(4月19日)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
所有的GMAT的YP难句整理到这里啦!(169#也有)
分析长难句NO.1:
Civil rights activists have long argued that one of the principal reasons why Blacks, Hispanics, and other minority groups have difficulty establishing themselves in business is that they lack access to the sizable others and subcontracts that are generated by large companies.
主要结构: activists argued that one of the principal reasons is that they lack access。
句子分析:argued 后面that引导宾语从句,宾语从句主语是one …reasons,why从句是修饰前面的reasons的,is 是宾语从句的动词,后面that引导表语从句说明reason的原因是they lack access。后面to整个句子修饰access,其中subcontracts 后面接了一个定语从句修饰subcontracts。
小璐的错误点:一开始小璐只提炼出 activists argued就没有了。其实不对,因为句子的信息缺少的太多了。句子主要的焦点不在这里。错误的把argued that 后面的东东都归为修饰argued了。其实木有理解句子是有层次的。
分析长难句NO.2:
Fascination with this ideal has made Americans defy the " Old World" categories of settled possessiveness versus unsettling derivation, the cupidity of retention versus the cupidity of seizure, a " status quo" defended or attacked.
主要结构:fascination with this ideal has made defy categories。
句子分析:这个句子比较简单,就是of 以后的修饰成分比较复杂。
小璐的错误点:刚开始把with this ideal给省去了,后来看YP他并木有省去,觉得应该是起限定的作用吧。versus 和or有两个新意思,要记下来。
分析长难句NO.3:
The nonstarters were considered the ones who wanted stability, a strong referee to give them some position in the race, a regulative hand to calm manic speculation; an authority that can call things to a halt, begin things again from compensatorily staggered " starting lines. "
主要结构:
The nonstarters were considered the ones
句子分析:who引导的定语从句修饰the ones,然后后面一大堆的省略了who wanted。最后一个authority 后面用了一个定语从句,然后接谓语begin……,from后面是状语。
小璐的错误点:木有看出省略,把后面这几个东东读的时候用and连接了,我觉得也可以哈。
分析长难句NO.4:
“Reform” in America has been sterile because it can imagine no change except through the extension of this metaphor of a race, wider inclusion of competitors, “a piece of the action, ”as it were, for the disenfranchised.
主要结构:
Reform has been sterile because it can imagine no change.
句子分析:in America 修饰 reform,because引导原因从句解释sterile,except through 后面全部是解释change的,后面两项都省略了 except through。 as it were是插入语。YP留了个思考题,让思考reform和change指的是什么,小璐觉得change指后面的四项内容,reform指change,也就是说reform也间接指后面四项内容。和YP的理解有些出入,也不太大,觉得这么理解也可以(这里存疑)
小璐的错误点:
extension of this metaphor of a race 这种结构总是找不到核心,只知道extension是最后的核心,前面的那两个谁先谁后总是分不清,可能还是读的不够多,没有习惯。最后一项的省略结构里,YP给出的省略是 except through providing ,可能是根据上下文推出的要加providing的吧,小璐单看看不出来呢。
分析长难句NO.5:
We have no pride in our growing interdependence, in the fact that our systerm can serve others, that we are able to help those in need;empty boasts from the past make us ashamed of our present achievements, make us try to forget or deny them, move away from them.
主要结构:
We have no pride;empty boasts make us ashamed, make us try to forget or deny them.
句子分析:pride后面的in ……in need;都是限定pride的,in the fact 前面省略了we have no pride,后面的that we are able 省略了we have no pride in the fact。分号后面的句子结构很简单,但是意思却很难理解。
小璐的错误点:分号后面的关系木有搞懂,觉得应该是递进的。them应该指代achievements
(这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.6:
The traditional view supposes that the upper mantle of the earth behaves as a liquid when it is subjected to small forces for long periods and that differences in temperature under oceans and continents are sufficient to produce convection in the mantle of the earth with rising convection currents under the mid-ocean ridges and sinking currents under the continents.
主要结构:View supposes that mantle behaves as a liquid and that differences are sufficient to produce convection.
句子分析:as a liquid是状语,但是小璐给加上了。觉得太简化句子就表达不出主要的信息啦。 when后面引导的时间状语限定liquid的时间,其中it 指代mantle。and后面省略了supposes,in temperature under ocean and continents 修饰differences。in the mantle of the earth 是说在哪产生convection。with rising ……句末是说怎么产生的convection,好像是叫方式状语。
小璐的错误点:sufficient to produce convection 这里开始小璐把to do 归于修饰sufficient了。to do什么时候是修饰,什么时候是表目
(这里存疑)
分析长难句NO。7:
This view may be correct:it has the advantage that the currents are driven by temperature differences that themselves depend on the position of the continents.
主要结构:This view may be correct: it has the advantage that the currents are driven.
句子分析:By 后面的修饰比较复杂,that 修饰differences。currents drive是由于temperature differences是由于position。
分析长难句NO.8:
The enclosed seas are an important feature of the earth’s  surface and seriously require explanation because, in addition to the enclosed seas that are developing at present behind island arcs, there are a number of older ones of possibly similar origin, such as the Gulf of Mexico, the Black Sea, and perhaps the North Sea.
主要结构:The enclosed seas are feature and require explanation because there are a number of older ones of possibly similar origin.
句子分析:in addition 是插入语,里面套着一个定语从句修饰seas。
小璐的错误点:there are 后面的两个of搞不清楚关系。觉得应该是possibly similar origin 应该修饰ones的。就是因为有大量相似成因的更老的内海。例如blabla。觉得这样更能和后文举的例子衔接上呢。和YP解释的有出入
(这里存疑)
分析长难句NO. 9:
Furthemore, neutrinos carry with them information about the site and circumstances of their production: therefore, the detection of  cosmic neutrinos could provide new information about a wide variety of cosmic phenomena and about the history of the universe.
主要结构:neutrinos carry with information :therefore,the detection could provide new information。
句子分析:about the site …production 都是修饰information的,分号后面的两个about并列修饰前面的information。
小璐的错误点:这个句子不太难,但是小璐理解about the site…production这里的时候,层次关系木有找对。以为of their production只是针对circumstances所说的,看了YP解释后直到还要针对前面的site。什么时候要连在一起理解,什么时候要分开理解,还不是很明白。(这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.10:
Consequently, nothing seems good or normal that does not accord with the requirements of the free market.
主要结构:nothing seems good or normal。
句子分析:本句是定语从句倒装。that 引导的定语从句修饰nothing。
小璐的错误点:小璐读的时候还以为that是表原因呢。那些东西不正常是因为没有符合需求。
长难句分析NO.11:
Accordingly, it requires a major act of will to think of price-fixing (the determination of the prices by the seller) as both "normal" and having a valuable economic function.
主要结构:it requires a major act of will to think of price-fixing。
句子分析:it是形式主语,真正的主语在后面,就是to think of price-fixing as……。括号内的插入语解释price-fixing。
小璐的错误点:固定搭配:think of as没有看出来。对于固定搭配还不敏感耶!!!!
分析长难句NO.12:
In fact, price-fixing is normal in all industrialized societies because the industrial system itself provides, as an effortless consequence of its own development, the price-fixing that it requires.
主要结构:PF is normal because the industrial system itself provides the PF。
句子分析:as引导的插入语去掉这个句子就不难啦。很容易看出it 指代前面的industrial system,而不是PF。
小璐的错误点:as引导的这个插入语有些不知道该怎么理解。(这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.13:
That each large firm will act with consideration of its own needs and thus avoid selling its products for more than its competitors' charge is commonly recognized by advocates of free-market economic theories.
主要结构:That is recognized。(感叹下!好简单哦!)
句子分析:that引导的主语从句里面的东东比较复杂,提炼下就是each large firm will act and  thus avoid selling its products for more than its competitors' charge。注意and thus这里是有递进关系的。并不是单纯的并列。
小璐的错误点:提炼that从句时and后面有点儿搞不清楚状况,其实selling…charge 都是宾语。
分析长难句NO.14:
Moreover, those economists who argue that allowing the free market to operate without interference is the most efficient method of establishing prices have not considered the economies of nonsocialist countries other than the United States.
主要结构:economists  have not considered the economies。
句子分析:who引导的从句修饰economists,然后里面还夹着一个that从句修饰argue,主要结构是allowing the free market to operate is the method。 of establishing prices修饰method。
小璐的错误点:other  than 是除了……之外的意思。
分析长难句NO.15:
Synder, Daly, and Bruns have recently proposed that caffeine affects behavior by countering the activity in the human brain of a naturally occurring chemical called adenosine.
主要结构:SDB have proposed that caffeine affects behavior。
句子分析:By后面的成分比较复杂,the activity of 被in the brain 分割了。of后面全是修饰activity的。
小璐的错误点:in the brain 这个插入语还以为是限定作用的呢。固定搭配木有看出来。
分析长难句NO.16:
To buttress their case that caffeine acts instead by preventing adenosine binding, Snyder et al compared the stimulatory effects of a series of caffeine derivatives with their ability to dislodge adenosine from its receptors in the brains of mice.
主要结构:S  compared the stimulatory effects with their ability。
句子分析:that caffeine ……binding 全部解释case的,of a series 和to dislodge 分别修饰前面的effects和ability这两个名词。its指代前面的ade这个东东。
小璐的错误点:一直在纠结于instead这里,不知道要怎么理解,是不是要理解成转折的意思呢?  (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.17:
The problem is that the compond has mixed effects in the brain, a not unusual occurrence with psychoactive drugs.
主要结构:the problem is that。
句子分析:难点是a not unusual occurrence with…drugs修饰的是谁呢?目前觉得是修饰前面整个that句子的。  (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.18:
Who would want an unmarked pot when another was available whose provenance was known, and that was dated stratigraphically by the professional archaeologist who excavated it ?
主要结构:who would want an unmarked pot when another was available and that was dated。
句子分析:whose 引导的句子是修饰another的,and后面的that也是指another。
分析长难句NO19:
Federal efforts to aid minority businesses began in the 1960s when the Small Business Administration( SBA) began making federally guaranteed loans and government sponsored management and technical assistance available to minority business enterprises.
主要结构:federal efforts began when SBA began making loans and assistance。
句子分析:when后面的状语比较难。固定搭配:making something available to something。有两个and的层次关系不太好理解,第一个and和loans是一个层面上的。然后management and technical是另一个层面上的。federal …assistance都是修饰making的。
小璐的错误点:固定搭配木有看出来。 总看不出来好么。所以读到available的时候不知道前面那些到底是什么关系。
分析长难句NO.20:
Recently federal policymakers have adopted an approach intended to accelerate development of the minority business sector by moving away from directly aiding small minority enterprises and toward supporting large, growth-oriented minority firms through intermediary companies.
主要结构:policymakers have adopted an approach。
句子分析:intended……句末,都是修饰approach的。然后分成两个层次看。intended …sector+By…句末。有个moving away from……and toward……这个搭配,是从……转移到……,所以这个长长的修饰语就是说这个approach 的目的是……,用……转移到……,通过……来实现达到这个目的。
小璐的错误点:依然是固定搭配。而且一开始后面thought引导的这个东东不知道要放在那里才好。
分析长难句NO. 21:
MESBIC's are the result of the belief that providing established firms with easier access to relevant management techniques and more job-specific experience, as well as substantial amounts of capital, gives those firms a greater opportunity to develop sound business foundations than dose simply making general management experience and small amounts of capital available.
主要结构:MESBIC's are the result of belief。
句子分析:belief后面的同位语成分好复杂啊。that……最后都是解释belief的。从句主要结构是providing established firms with easier access  gives those firms a greater opportunity than does simply making general management experience and small amounts of capital available。晕,简化了还这么长。gives后面是接的双宾语。does就是gives。
小璐的错误点:前面with easier access这里不是很明白。开始分析的时候直接划掉了。插入语插的意思也不是很懂。看YP解释把as well  as翻译成“以及”了,更有点儿搞不清和前面句子的关系了。(这里存疑)
分析长难句NO. 22:
Most senior executives are familiar with the formal decision analysis models and tools, and those who use such systematic methods for reaching decisions are occasionally lerry of solutions suggested by these methods which run counter to their sense fo the correct course of action .
主要结构:most senior executives are familiar with the formal decision analysis models and tools,and those are leery of solutions。
句子分析:第一个and后面的句子比较难。who修饰的是those, suggested ……句末都是修饰solutions的。然后 which修饰methods。
小璐的错误点:suggested这里还是不太明白,为什么和By连在一起修饰solutions的呢? (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.23:
But the debate could not be resolved because no one was able to ask the crucial questions in a form in which they could be pursued productively.
主要结构:but the debate could not be resolved because no one was able to ask the crucial questions。
句子分析:in a form限定questions的,后面的 in which 修饰 forms,里面还有一套SVO。
分析长难句NO.24:
During the nineteenth century, she argues, the concept of the "useful" child who contributed to the family economy gave way gradually to the present-day notion of the "useless" child who, though producing no income for, and indeed extremely costly to, its parents, is yet considered emotionally "priceless. "
主要结构:the concept gave way gradually to the present-day notion。
句子分析:两个who都是修饰前面child的,但是第二个比较复杂一点,就是有个插入语,还加了个动词,看着有点儿乱。那个插入语for 和 to都是针对parents说的。然后说这个无用的小孩子被认为是无价的。is动词是针对child说的。然后这个of……句末都是修饰notion的。
小璐的错误点:小璐以为is 是整个句子的谓语,不对。非常的不对。没有理清关系。这个句子是要说新观点K.O. 新观点是blabla。。。
分析长难句NO.25:
Well established among segments of the middle and upper classes by the mid-1800's, this new view of childhood spread throughout society in the late-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as reformers introduced child-labor regulations and compulsory education laws predicated in part on the assumption that a child's emotional values made child labor taboo.
主要结构:this new view spread  as reformers inroduced child-labour regulations and compulsory education laws。
句子分析:predicated 后面都是修饰laws的。that 修饰assumption。有一个固定搭配:predicte A upon/on B  是“以B作为A的基础”的意思。我觉得这么理解不好。直接理解成A基于B就可以了啊。
小璐的错误点:固定搭配没有看出来,但是还是明白这个句子的意思。不知道状语神马的。
分析长难句NO.26:
"Expulsion of children from the ' cash nexus' …although clearly shaped by profound changes in the economicm occupational, and family structures," Zelizer maintains , " was also part of a cultural process of ' sacralization' of children's lives."
主要结构:expulsion of children was also part of a culture process of 'sacralization' of children's lives.
句子分析:这句话的插入语有个although,说明后面句子的部分是转折的关系。去掉插入语就找到was 的主语是expulsion啦。然后有好几个of,读了半天,觉得part of a cultural process是核心。后面修饰process。
分析长难句NO.27:
Protecting children from the crass business world became enormously important for late-nineteenth-century middle-class Americans, she suggests; this sacralization was a way of resisting what they perceived as the relentless corruption of human values by the marketplace.
主要结构: protecting children from the crass business world became important;this sacralization was a way.
句子分析: way被后面接的resisting+what引导的名词性从句两个东东共同修饰。corruption 的意思比较特殊,是伤害或者损害的意思。记下来。
小璐的错误点:  perceive as 这个短语是“认为”的意思。
分析长难句NO.28:
The factors favoring unionization drives seem to have been either the presence of large numbers of workers, as in New York City, to make it worth the effort, or the concentration of small numbers in one or two locations, such as a hospital, to make it relatively easy.
主要结构:
the factors seem to have been either the presence of large number of workers or the concentration。
句子分析:这句不难,就只要注意drives是名词,是表示某种群体性运动或者过程。
小璐的错误点:两个动词不定式的it 是形式什么语,分别指代后面的effort和easy么? (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.29:
Individual entrepreneurs do not necessarily rely on their kin because they cannot obtain financial backing from commercial resources.
主要结构:entrepreneurs do not necessarily rely on their kin。
句子分析:句子很简单,可是容易会错意。这句要表达的是这些人不一定是因为不会获得支持才去依赖他们的亲属的。
分析长难句NO.30:
Since large bees are not affected by the spaying of Matacil, these results add weight to the argument that spraying where the pollinators are sensitive to the pesticide used decreases plant fecundity.
主要结构:since large bees are not affected ,these results add weight to the argument。
句子分析:  that ……最后都是在说argument的,spraying decreases plant fecundity 。其中where引导的状语从句限制spraying的地方。used 是修饰pesticide的。where里面的SVO是说传粉昆虫对用过农药敏感。
分析长难句NO.31:
The question of whether the decrease in plant fecundity caused by the spraying of pesticides actually causes a decline in the overall population of flowering plant species still remains unanswered.
主要结构:the question still remains unanswered。
句子分析:question后面的同位成分比较复杂,主干是 decrease causes a decline。caused by ……pesticides修饰fecundity。
小璐的错误点:看不出是同位语成分,只是能读出解释前面的question。
分析长难句NO.32:
Although at first the colonies held little positive attraction for the Englisht---they would rather have stayed home---by the eighteenth century people increasingly migrated to America because they regarded it as the land of opportunity.
主要结构:although the colonies held little positive attraction--- people increasingly migrated to America。
句子分析:这句不难,就是前面有个little注意是否定的意思。不要忘了后半句的分句是表示转折的关系。colonies 和Englist理解成殖民地和英国人。固定搭配:A hold   attraction for B是A能抓住B的注意力的意思。我觉得解释的有点儿绕啊,就直接理解成A 吸引B 就OK了,一个意思呀。 (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.33:
If the competitor can prove injury from the imports ---and that the United States company received a subsidy from a foreign government to build its plant abroad---the United States company's products will be uncompetitive in the United States, since they would be subject to duties.
主要结构:if competitor can prove injury and that USC received a subsidy to build its plant---USC's products will be uncompetitive。
句子分析:有两处省略,小璐都看出来啦。。哈哈。。   一处是 can prove that 一处是---后面要有then。
分析长难句NO.34:
In addition many ethnologists at the turn of the century believed that Native American manners and customs were rapidly disappearing, and that it was important to preserve for posterity as much information as could be adequately recorded before the cultures disappeared forever.
主要结构:many ethnologists believed that manners and customs were rapidly disappearing , and that it was important to preserve as much information.
句子分析:and后面省略了believed, it 做的是形式主语,as could be adequately recorded 是修饰information的。
小璐的错误点: as much……as这个结构还不熟,要表达的意思是尽量多的……。不明白为什么第二个as后面修饰的是information而不是表达一样多的比较意思呢?  (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.35:
In such a context, what is recognized as "dependency" in Western psychiatric terms is not in Korean terms, an admission of weakness or failure.
主要结构:what is recognized as “dependency”in Western psychiatric terms  is not an admission。
句子分析:不难的句子。注意插入语就可以了。是在W的和在K的被认为的不是一个意思。
分析长难句NO.36:
And managers under pressure to maximize cost-cutting will resist innovation because they know that more fundamental changes in processes or systems will wreak havoc with the results on which they are measured.
主要结构:managers will resist innovation because they know that more fundamental changes will wreak havoc。
句子分析:under……cost-cutting 都是修饰managers的。in processes or systems 限定changes。 with ……measured 是方式之类的状语。就是用这个被measured 的结果会带来havoc。
小璐的错误点:最后面on which 划分的成分不对,导致后半句理解的并不到位。
分析长难句NO.37:
Most novelists and historians writing in the early  to mid-twentieth century who considered women in the West, when they considered women at all, fell under Turner's spell.
主要结构:most novelists and historians fell
句子分析:writing……century是修饰novelists和historians的,然后又被who引导的定语从句修饰。spell 被引申为强烈的影响力或者吸引力的意思。
小璐的错误点:when引导的是个神马从句不知道。所以,插入语的意思还不理解。看了YP的解释更加不理解: “如果他们还能考虑到妇女的话。”   (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.38:
In addition, the ideal of  six CEO's (female or male) serving on the board of each of the largest corporations is realizable only if every CEO serves on six board.
主要结构:the ideal is realizable.
分析句子:ideal 后面的of 成分有点儿复杂,这么断句就看清楚啦。six CEO's serving /on the board of / each of the corporations。和YP断的句子不太一样。但我理解的最后的核心也是CEO。 (这里存疑)  only if 是提出条件的,只有在if 后面说的条件下,前面说的才会实现。
分析长难句NO.39:
Increasingly, historians are blaming diseases imported from the Old World for the staggering disparity between the indigenous population of America in 1942---new estimates of which soar as high as 100 million, or approximately one-sixth of the human race at that time ---and the few million full-blooded Native Americans alive at the end of the nineteenth century.
主要结构:historians are blaming diseases for the staggering disparity between…… and……
分析句子:imported……world 是修饰diseases的。blame A for B 是把B归罪于A。---后面是解释population的。然后alive ……最后都是修饰Americans 的。
小璐的错误点:alive划分的不对,alive是ADJ,和at the end一起被后置了。
分析长难句NO.40:
Virgin-soil epidemics are those in which the populations at risk have had no previous contract with the diseases that strike them and are therefore immunologically almost defenseless.
主要结构:epidemics are those。
分析句子:in  which ……句末都在解释those。that strike them 是修饰diseases的,and后面的主语是populations。 (这里存疑)YP解释说populations at risk 在谈到疾病的时候,是“危险人群”的意思。要记下来。
小璐的错误点:and后面的主语找不准,层次关系混乱了。
分析长难句NO.41:
Spanish tribute records…The evidence provided by the documents of British and French colonies is not as definitive because the conquerors of those areas did not establish permanent settlements and begin to keep continuous records until the seventeenth century, by which time the worst epidmics had probably already taken place.
主要结构:the evidence is not as definitive because the conquerors did not establish permanent settlement and begin to keep continuous records。
分析句子:有一处省略在and后面,应该是and did not begin……until。
小璐的错误点:省略木有看出来,而且 后面的until 小璐理解只接在了and后面的这个层次上,前面的那个木有考虑在一起哎,类似 until 这种东东什么时候要和and前面联系在一起,什么时候要单独理解and后面的呐?  (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.42:
Unfortunately, the documentation of these and other epidemics is slight and frequently unreliable, and it is necessary to supplement what little we do know with evidence from recent epidemics among Native Americans.
主要结构:the documentation is slight and frequently unreliable,and it is necessary to supplement what little we do know with evidence.
句子分析:固定搭配,supplement A with B 是把B补充到A中。A 用了个从句。evidence 后面的都是修饰evidence的,后面的among NA是修饰epidemics。
小璐的错误点:固定搭配木有看出来,提取结构的时候把slight和 frequently 给省了。不对。因为and是表达的两个意思。相当于后面的and省略了is。
分析长难句NO.43:
Scientists have begun to suspect that this intergalactic gas is probably a mixture of gases left over from the " big bang" when the galaxies were formed and gas was forced out of galaxies by supernova explosions.
主要结构:scientists have begun to suspect that gas is a mixture of gases。
分析句子:left ……big bang都是修饰gases的。when引导的从句理解的还不是很深刻。目前觉得是说这个混合的气体在什么时候产生的。 (这里存疑)
小璐的错误点:
when的句子理解不是很清晰。而且By supernova explosions这个状语放在哪里才正确还是分不清。 (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.44:
He noted that the wavelengths of the radiation emitted by a gas would change as the gas cooled, so that as the gas flowed into the galaxy and became cooler, it would emit not X-rays, but visible light, like that which was captured in the photographs.
主要结构:he noted that the wavelengths would changes,so that as the gas flowed into the galaxy and became cooler, it would emit not X-rays。
分析句子:emitted by a gas 修饰 radiation的。 that  which=what。
小璐的错误点:so that的这个句子不知道肿么理解。后来想明白啦。这句要表达的意思是,气体变冷的时候这个东东会改变,然后进一步解释,气体流入并变得更冷的时候,这个东东会肿么改变?会放出可见光。
分析长难句NO.45:
Transported outside the nucleus to the cytoplasm, the mRNA is translated into the protein it encodes by an organelle known as a ribosome, which strings together amino acids, in the order specified by the sequence of elements in the mRNA molecule.
主要结构:the mRNA is translated into the protein。
分析句子:transported 的主语是后面的mRNA,protein 后面省略了that,which ……最后都是解释前面的R这个东东的。里面的关系好复杂呀。就是R把氨基酸在排列上串在一起。什么样的排列呢,就是specified ……最后都是解释order的。是那种在mRNA分子中,被成分次序特有的那种排列。
小璐的错误点:which后面的东东好复杂啊。。没看懂啊。。
分析长难句NO.46:
However, recent investigations have shown that the concentrations of most mRNA's correlate best, not with their synthesis rate, but rather with the equally variable rates at which cells degrade the different mRNA's in their cytoplasm.
主要结构:recent investigations have show that concentrations correlate best, not with their synthesis rate,but rather with the equally variable rates。
句子分析:but rather 后面省略了 correlate best, at which 后面全部修饰rates的。correlate ……with是固定搭配。
小璐的错误点:固定搭配依然木有看出来。省略木有看出来。
分析长难句NO.47:
If a cell degrades both a rapidly and a slowly synthesized mRNA slowly, both mRNA's will accumulate to high levels.
主要结构:if a cell degrades mRNA, both mRNA's will accumulate。
句子分析:both……synthesized是修饰mRNA的,rapidly 后面省略了synthesized mRNA,逗号后面省略了then。
小璐的错误点:把后面to high levels算做宾语了。为什么不可以呢? (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.48:
For instance, the mass-production philosophy of United States automakers encouraged the production of huge lots of cars in order to utilize fully expensive, component-specific equipment and to occupy fully workers who hae been trained to execute one operation efficiently.
主要结构:the mass-production philosophy encouraged the production in order to utilize ……and to occupy fully workers。
句子分析:and后面省略了in order。 who 定从修饰workers。philosophy被YP引申为观念,理念。
分析长难句NO.49:
Japaness automakers chose to make small-lot production feasible by introducing several departures from United States practices, including the use of flexible equipment that could be altered easily to do several different production tasks and the training of workers in multiple jobs.
主要结构:J automakers chose to make small-lot production 。
分析句子:departure from 是指与……不一样的方法、策略、操作等等。feasible by修饰production。including 是接着解释前面的practices的。that could ……tasks是修饰equipment的。
小璐的错误点:木有理解YP说的chose的宾语是一个延伸到句尾的不定式。  (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.50:
Automakers could schedule the production of different components or models on single machines, thereby eliminating the need to store the buffer stocks of extra components that result when specialized equipment and workers are kept constantly active.
主要结构:automakers could schedule the production,thereby eliminating the need to store the buffer stocks。
句子分析:后半句比较难,of 后面到句末全是修饰stocks的。 extra components 后面的that result 不是很懂,怎么看出是全部修饰components的呢? (这里存疑)
小璐的错误点:这个句子理解的还不是很深刻。要再研究。
分析长难句NO.51:
In recent studies, however, we have discovered that the production and release in brain neurons of the neurotransmitter serotonin ( neurotransmitters are compounds that neurons use to transmit signals to other cells) depend directly on the food that the body processes.
主要结构:we have discovered that the production and release depend on the food。
句子分析:production and release of 被in brain neutrinos 分开了。括号里是解释neurotransmitters的。里面又有个定从解释compounds。
分析长难句NO.52:
Our first studies sought to determine whether the increase in serotonin observed in rats given a large injection of the amino acid tryptophan might also occur after rats ate meals that change tryptophan levels in the blood.
主要结构:our first studies sought to determine whether the increase in serotonin might also occur after rats ate meals。
句子分析:observed in rats ……tryptophan都是修饰the increase in serotonin的,其中given ……tryptophan是修饰rats的。
小璐的错误点: in  serotonin 为什么也要加入主语的行列里呐?  (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.53:
The consumption of prtein increases blood concentration of the other amino acids much more , proportionately, than it dose that of tryptophan.
主要结构:the consumption increases much more than it does that of tryptophan。
句子分析:这么简化完就不难看出来比较的是什么了。其实,than 后面就是 the consumption increases  blood concentration of tryptophan。consumption理解成哪种消耗,小璐觉得是要根据上下文。
分析长难句NO.54:
This revisionist view of Jim Crow legislation grew in part from the research that Woodward had done for the NAACP legal campaign during its preparation for Brown V. Board of Education.
主要结构:the revisionist view grew from  the research。
句子分析:that 后面全部修饰research。其实也不难,简化下就是  that   W ……for……during……
分析长难句NO.55:
Woodward confessed with ironic modesty that the first edition " had begun to suffer under some of the handicaps that might be expected in a history of the American Revolution published in 1776.
主要结构:woodward confessed that the first edition had begun to suffer  some of the handicaps。
句子分析:ironic 是指反常的、令人感到奇怪的意思。that might be ……1776都是修饰handicaps的。published 修饰 American Revolution的。
分析长难句NO.56:
Yet, like Paine, Woodward had an unerring sense of the revolutionary moment, and of how historical evidence could undermine the mythological tradition that was crushing the dreams of new social possibilities.
主要结构:Woodward had an unerring sense of ……and  of ……
句子分析:这样简化就不难看出省略啦。最后半句又加了个定从that ……修饰前面的tradition。
分析长难句NO.57:
Joseph Glarthaar's Forged in Battle is not the first excellent study of Black soldiers and their White officers in the Civil War, but it uses more soldiers' letters and diaries---including rare material from Black soldiers---and concentrates more intensely on Black-White relations in Black regiments than do any of its predecessors.
主要结构:JG's FIB  is not the first excellent study, but it uses more letters and diaries ---and concentrates more intensely  than do any of its predecessors。
句子分析:插入语是解释前面的letters and diaries的。其实不太难,我觉得前半句although 不是省略,在英语的语法里不是只能出现一个么?加上就是帮助更好的理解。
分析长难句NO.58:
While perhaps true of those officers who joined Black units for promotion or other self-serving motives, this statement misrepresents the attitudes of the many abolitionists who became officers in Black regiments.
主要结构:while perhaps true, this statement misrepresents the attitudes.
句子分析:perhaps 后面省略了 this statement is。后面的句子比较好理解。of 后面全部修饰attitudes。
小璐的错误点:前半句省略没有看出来,导致找不到谓语,不知道怎么理解哈。
分析长难句NO.59:
Moreover, arguments pointing out the extent of both structural and functional differences between eukaryotes and true bacteria convinced many biologists that the precursors of the eukaryotes must have diverged from the common ancestor before the bacteria arose.
主要结构:arguments convinced many biologists that the precursors must have diverged。
句子分析:pointing ……true bacteria 都是修饰arguments 的。里面又一层套一层,of……bacteria 修饰extend,between and结构修饰differences。后半句不难,from ……before ……分开就好啦。
分析长难句NO.60:
New techniques for determining the molecular sequence of the RNA of organisms have produced evolutionary information about the degree to which organisms are related , the time since they dierged from a common ancestor, and the reconstruction of ancestral versions of genes.
主要结构:new techniques have produced evolutionary information about the degree, the time, and the reconstruction。
小璐的错误点:省略木有看出来,后面都省略了about。觉得修饰倒不是很难。
分析长难句NO.61:
These techniques have strongly suggested that although the true bacteria indeed from a  large coherrent group, certain other bacteria, the archaebacteria, which are also prokaryotes and which resemble true bacteria, represent a distinct evolutionary branch that far antedates the common ancestor of all true bacteria.
主要结构:these techniques have strongly suggested that although the true bacteria form a large coherent group, certain other bacteria represent a distinct evolutionary branch.
句子分析:but要加在certain other bacteria 前面。插入语都是在说archaebacteria 的。 最后面得that 是解释branch的。
分析长难句NO.62:
The new tax law allowed corporations to deduct the cost of the product donated plus half the difference between cost and fair market selling prices, with the proviso that deductions cannot exceed twice cost.
主要结构:the new tax law allowed corporations to deduct the cost plus half the difference,with the proviso。
句子分析:between ……price都是限定differences的。 这里的plus不是“+”的意思,而是要理解成“和”,也就是减掉的是cost 和 differences。
小璐的错误点:后面that deduction ……最后都是修饰proviso的,但是小璐不懂YP说的,为什么把twice cost倒过来就不行了呢? (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.63:
Unfortunately, emancipation has been less profound than expected , for not even industrial wage labor has escaped continued sex segregation in the workplace.
主要结构:emancipation has been less profound than expected。
句子分析:for 后面比较难,因为not这个否定词被提前了,正常应该放在has后面,就容易理解了。
分析长难句NO.64:
To explain this unfinished revolution in the status of women, historians have recently begun to emphasize the way a prevailing definition of femininity often determines the kinds of work allocated to women , even when such allocation is inappropriate to new conditions.
主要结构:historians have recently begun to emphasize the way。
句子分析:way后面省略了that,全都是解释way的。不知道是不是分析多了,这么看觉得这个句子也没啥好说的了。
小璐的错误点:小璐把when这个分句并没有划分到修饰way里,觉得不放在这里也可以。 (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO.65:
For instance , early textile-mill entrepreneurs, in justifying women's employment in wage labor, made much of the assumption that women were by nature skillful at detailed tasks and patient in carrying out repetitive chores; the mill owners thus imported into the new industrial order hoary stereotypes associated with the homemaking activities they presumed to have been the purview of women.
主要结构:entrepreneurs made much of the assumption;the millowners imported into the new industrial order hoary stereotypes。
句子分析:assumption  that后面的句子主要结构是,women were skillful and patient。 分号importe into 后面倒装啦。正常应该是importe hoary stereotypes into order。然后stereotypes 后面的associated全部修饰stereotypes的。里面的activities后面又省略了that。
分析长难句NO.66:
More remarkable than the origin has been the persistence of such sex segregation in twentieth-century industry.
主要结构:more remarkable than has been the persistence。
句子分析:大倒装,然后persistence of 后面都是修饰persistence。
分析长难句NO.67:
According to a recent theory, Archean-age gold-quartz vein systems were formed over two billion years ago from magmatic fluids that originated from molten granitelike bodies deep beneath the surface of the Earth.
主要结构:AGV systems were formed from magmatic fluids.
句子分析:that originated ……Earth都是修饰fluids的。
小璐的错误点:deep这个词的划分木有搞清楚,其实是修饰bodies的。
分析长难句NO.68:
However, none of these high-technology methods are of any value if the sites to which they are applied have never mineralized, and to maximize the chances of discovery the explorer must therefore pay particular attention to selecting the ground formations most likely to be mineralized.
主要结构:none of these high-technology are of any value if the sites have never mineralized, and the explorer pay attention to selecting the ground formations.
句子分析:to which they are applied 修饰sites的,to maximize ……explorer是目的之类的状语。most likely ……最后是修饰formations的。
小璐的错误点:小璐一直在纠结为什么none of 后面是用动词are呢。如果按照YP划分的,none of these/ high-technology methods这样,要怎么理解呢?查了一下ManhattanSC说,none of 后面加单复数都可以,但是要表达“一个”这个含义的时候要用is。  (这里存疑)
分析长难句NO。69:
In order for the far-ranging benefits of individual ownership to be achieved by owners, companies, and countries, employees and other individuals must make their own decision to buy , and they must commit some of their own resources to the choice.
主要结构:for the far-ranging benefits  be achieved,employees and other individuals must make their own decisions and they must commit some of their own resources。
句子分析:第一个分句觉得比较难理解,拆开来看,就是in order to be achieved by ……,和 for the far-ranging benefits。但不建议这么拆,还是要熟读这个结构。 有个固定搭配:commit A to B,是为了B付出了A的代价。
小璐的错误点:分句没有读出来意思。固定搭配不了解。commit之前背的意思是“干(坏事),犯(错误)”,所以这句理解的有些凌乱。
