(1) Low cost firms tend to use collateral to avoid paying loan assessment fees to banks, indirectly avoiding subsidizing high cost forms on those fees.
(2) Copyright
1.1.2 copyright
Issue:
What is ....? / How is ...? Some people believe that... / The arguer claims/asserts that .... (1) In my opinion, it is true that ..., but it is imprudent to assert that ... (2) While I admit that ..., I maintan/think that the complex nature of this issue requires one to examine it case-by-case.(3) I totally agree with the arguer because we don't need to look very far to see the validity of this argument.
In the first place, .... The most well-known example is perhaps ... Under this type of circumstances, it is evident that….
In the second place, .... For example, ...
Admittedly, .... However, we should notice that ...
In summary, I agree with the arguer that ... / I agree with reservation that / I do not agree that ...
Argument:
(In this proposal/argument,) The author proposes/claims that ... The author's line of reasoning is that... (The author also points out that ... )The conclusion may sound appealing at first glance, but upon closer examination, we will find the argument does not hold up to logic reasoning and it suffers from two critical flaws.
First of all, the conclusion is based on an unwarranted assumption that.... However, no evidence is provided to support this assumption. For instance, it is likely that…; it is also likely that…. Any of these scenarios, if true, would seriously weaken the conclusion. Therefore, the argument is groundless without excluding such possibilities.
Second, the argument commits a fallacy of "after this therefore because of this"/"all things are equal"/"faulty analogy"/"hasty generalization"/"biased sampling"/"either-or thinking".
1)The mere fact that A preceded B is not sufficient to conclude that there is a cause-effect relationship between the two events. In fact, the author obviously neglected other possible contributing factors such as…… Without ruling out other possible causes and having compelling evidences to demonstrate the direct causal connection, the author's recommendation is not worthy of consideration.
2) The author assumes without justification that all things are equal, and that the background conditions have remained the same at different times / locations. However, it is not necessarily the case. As a matter of fact, it is quite likely that... So the conclusions drawn from old times are not applicable to the current situation.
3)The author assumes without justification that A is similar to B in all aspects. However, the differences between A and B could apparently outweight their similarities. For example, A…,however, B…. So the facts drawn from A are not applicable to B, thus making the analogy faulty.
4) Only one example is logically insufficient to reach generalization, unless the arguer can show that A is representative of all As. Actually, A could just be a special case in the sense that .... So the arguer's generalization based on this example is unreliable.
5) The author's argument is heavily based on a previously conducted survey. However, there is no elaboration to indicate where, when, how and by whom the survey was conducted. Nor does the author give any critical information about the size of samples and how the samples were selected. It is totally possible that….. Unless all these questions can be answered, the survey per se does not lend strong support to the conclusion.
6) The author decides that A and B are mutually exclusive approaches without providing any reason for imposing that either-or choice. However, common sense and life experiences tell us that the two work better when joined together.
Last but not least, the author fails to provide the necessary information about ... / There is no thorough cost-benefit analysis in the argument. If the increase of cost overweighs that of benefits, …will fall in trouble of losing rather than gaining money. Also, the author neglects contingencies such as labor and material costs, legislative moves, competition, market changes, and the national or international economic cycle , all of which can lead to the dropping profit. Lacking these information, it is difficult to assess ...
In summary, the argument is not fully compelling as it stands. To strengthen the argument, the author would have to provide evidence that ... To better evaluation the conclusion, we would also need information about ...
