Compared to nonprofit hospitals of the same size, investor-owned hospitals require less public investment in the form of tax breaks, use fewer employees, and have higher occupancy levels. It can therefore be concluded that investor-owned hospitals are a better way of delivering medical care than are nonprofit hospitals.
Which one of the following, if true, most undermines the conclusion drawn above?
key: Patients in nonprofit hospitals recover more quickly than do patients with comparable illnesses in investor-owned hospitals.

A society’s infant mortality rate is an accepted indicator of that society’s general health status. Even though in some localities in the United States the rate is higher than in many developing countries. In the United States , overall the rate has been steadily declining. This declines does not necessarily indicate, however, that babies in the United  States are now, on the average, healthier at birth than they were in the past.
Which one of the following reasons, if true, most strongly supports the claim made above about the implications of the decline?
key: The United States has been developing and his achieved extremely sophisticated technology for saving premature and low-birth-weight babies, most of whom require extended hospital stays.

Investigators concluded that human failure was not responsible for the fatal airplane crash last August, and since that time new and more stringent rules for identifying and reporting mechanical problems have been in effect. That accounts for the fact that reports of airplane mechanical problems have increased in frequency by 50 percent since last August.
Which one of the following is an assumption underlying the argument in the passage?
key: Mechanical problems in airplanes have not increased by 50 percent since last August.

4. 30s
A survey of alumni of the class of 1960 at Aurora University yielded puzzling results. When asked to indicate their academic rank, half of the respondents reported that they were in the top quarter of the graduating class in 1960.
Which one of the following most helps account for apparent contradiction above?
key: A disproportionately large number of high ranking alumni responded to the survey.

Weaken:
Support:
C:puzzling!

1. 21'
Premise: investor-owned hospital use less tax, fewer employes, have occupancy levels.
Conclusion: investor-owned hospitals are a better way of delivering medical care than are nonprofit hospitals.
Weaken: The advantages of investor-owned hospital have no relationship with a better way of delivering medical care.

1-11
51 35’’
Fact1: investor-owned hospitals require less public investments, use less employees, and have higher occupancy level.
Conclusion: Investor-owned hospital can deliver medicine care better.
Weakens: Private hospital charges more per patient than public hospital does.
52 45’’
Background info: infant mortality rate reveals the general health status of a society.
Evidence: though some places in the U.S. have higher death rate than it the death in developing, the average infant mortality rate is lower than it in the past.
Conclusion: In the U.S. the babies are healthier now than in the past.
Support: the population of the places where infant mortality increased in these years accounts for only 5 percent of population in America.
53 45’’
Argument1: human failure was not responsible for the recent air crash.
Argument2: though recently the airplane mechanic problems increase by 50 percent, the increased figures do not reveal anything since they emerged from stricter and more stringent check regulations.
Assumption: the rules of checking mechanic problems are not so loose before the air crash that mechanics and engineers have malpractices in their work times.
54 24’’
Fact: a survey yielded puzzling results, half of alumni believed they are at the top.
Account for the contradiction: Only top honorary graduates are willing to accept interview (bingo).
55 AWA 45’’
Argument: In the last decades the Megamart grocery store increased its sales by adding a pharmacy section in its store, so it is necessary to open up some other sections in its market to achieve competitive advantage in the next decade.
Points:
1. All things are equal. The author commits the fallacy of ‘all things are equal’. The fact that happened in the past is not a sound evidence to draw an evidence that the same strategy still works in the future. The background conditions may have changed in these years. For example:…
2. Casual-relationship
The manager oversimplify the reason they succeed in the past, improperly ascribing the diversification as their wining secret.

P invester-owned hospitals received less money and required less employees compared with the non-profit hospitals
C inverter-owned hospitals are a better way of medical delivering care.
weaken: Maybe investr-owned hospitals' doctors are not as experience as the non-profit hospitals' ; The doctores in invester-owned hospital do not have responsibility.
2 60s
P The the infant death rate has been gradually reduced.
C however, this declination does not suggest that the new born baby is more healthy in the US than before.
Support: The absolute number of baby in US has been declined.
3
P human failure was not responsible for the fatal airline crush last august because the new rule had been in effect.
C reports of mechanicle problem have been increased by 50%.
4 34s
P a survey result is puzzle.
P half of the students in the class reported that they are the top quarter students in the class.

(delivering medical care)
Patients in nonprofit hospitals recover more quickly than do patients with comparable illnesses in investor-owned hospitals.

Conclusion:

Weaken: Which one is better cannot be judged through these three factors.. ehmmmm investor-owned hospital might sacrifice medical care in interest of their own profits?

2. 65s
Premise:
Argument:

Strengthen:
