谢谢三位的回答，可我还是有点疑问。如leeon gg的建议，我参考了一下OG12，可我发现自己更加迷糊了。

In A, the they after because is ambiguous; it seems illogically to refer to Formulas because they and Formulas are each the grammatical subject of a clause and because the previous they refers to Formulas。

OG的解释是，because 从句中的they与主句的主语formulas是平行的，所以they指代formulas。那也就是说，大全中的这题E中的they应该指代主句的主语Young female bellet dancers and gymnates。这就不存在指代不清的问题了，E就更没错了。

至于stoneren gg说的语序问题倒有点像是关键所在了。OG12的答案D就是原因状语从句在前，主句在后的。ETS是不是认为更喜欢按时间顺序来的句子？但是我又在OG上找到了很多反例。怎么都想不通，请三位再给我讲讲！

这题区别D和E的最好的方法，至少偶是这么认为的，就是XDF的理论，所谓若两个选项除了因果秩序颠倒外，没有其它差别，那么选先因后果的选项。
