D omits a preposition "of", the correct expression should be "the number is less than one-quater of the amount"

B "as many as" cannot be omittd as "as many"

我觉得B中as many指代不清。

不用这么复杂，这题很简单啊！因为题干中drive-ins是复数，所以不能用less要用fewer.less是little 的比较级

本贴楼主提供的C是amount。我还是觉得amount不能代替可数的数量，应该是看到amount就剔出CDE。是不是C应该用number？

不好意思，MINDFREE牛牛，我现在被CONVINCED了B是错误的，可是C也不正确啊。你举的例子，a large amount of money里面，money是不可数名词，所以可以用a large amount of来修饰。第二个例子，output也是个概述性质的名词，比如可以指代water，那么water的量用amount来代表也是正确的。你的意思是amount和number可以互换吗？请指正。
