One laptop per child partners with Hult International Business School to host the 1^st annual global case challenge

BOSTON, MA, MAY 19, 2010 – One Laptop per Child (OLPC) in partnership with Hult International Business School (Hult) and the Center for Innovation, Excellence and Leadership (IXL Center) is pleased to announce North American regional top performer Carnegie Mellon University as the world champion of the 1st Annual Global Case Challenge “GCC”.

Four Tepper MBAs and a PhD student took the top honors, beating out regional champions from Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Hult hosted social entrepreneurs from 31 of the world’s top MBA programs across four global locations, who came together to provide innovative solutions to this year’s partner company, OLPC. Participating teams include students from: Harvard Business School, Wharton Business School, Chicago Booth, Columbia Business School, MIT, Tepper of Carnegie Mellon, Darden of Virginia University, Rotman of Toronto University, Richard Ivey from university of western ontario, INSEAD and Hult to name a few.

“We have pioneered a new innovation model that integrates crowd-sourcing and competitive environments and we did it on a global scale” – Ahmad A. Ashkar, Founder of the Global Case Challenge and President of the Hult International Business School Consulting Club.“The model is sustainable because it leverages the hearts and minds of the world’s best and brightest business students and provides a platform for them to give back to society.”

Over 60 detailed solutions were provided to OLPC along with 2000 plus hours of consulting advisory. “The IXL Center worked intimately with our organization to develop a real-time case study and challenge question that was of strategic importance to OLPC, which translated into student solutions that were realistic and actionable” – Paul Commons, Director, One Laptop per Child.

The GCC innovation model has set a new standard for social entrepreneurship and continues to expand on its mission of crowd-sourcing innovative strategies from the world’s best and brightest young business minds that attempt to solve the social and economic problems that plague the world. “Developing a social conscience can be critical to becoming a successful business leader,” said Hult President Dr. Stephen Hodges. “By challenging students to provide concrete solutions to ongoing social issues, they can get a head start in that crucial process.”

Planning for the 2011 GCC is underway and there is still time to get involved by registering on-line. Companies can participate as both sponsors and/or partners. Former Governor and US Presidential Candidate, Michael Dukakis, visits the Boston campus May 11th 2010 for on campus presentation and networking reception
(Boston—May 18, 2010) Hult International Business School was pleased to host Former Governor of Massachusetts (1975-1979, 1983-1991) and Democratic Candidate for the 1988 US Presidential Election, Michael Dukakis, for an informative and lively discussion on the Global Economy and Challenges Ahead.

Governor Dukakis spoke about his career path that led him to become the Democratic candidate for the US presidential election. He acknowledged the current crisis in Greece in particular, and welcomed the recent agreement by Eurogroup Ministers to endorse a three year program of support which has strong conditionality attached to assist Greece. Recognizing that the world is in a time of economic crisis, he noted that such crises can also present us with an opportunity to reform the way we operate and re-visit how we implement basic principles.

Governor Dukakis commented on the state of the US economy and mentioned the country had come a long way since the beginning of the financial crisis when many institutions were on the brink of financial collapse and the economy was going into reverse.

Students asked questions about his domestic and international experiences, policies and beliefs. Governor Dukakis connected with students regarding the international makeup of the US, pointing out how far we have come and where we still

Hult Delegation shines at EuroMUN 2010
(London—May 24, 2010) Climate change, global recession, nuclear treaties, and Millennium Development goals—these are some of the issues that the Hult student delegation debated at the European Model United Nations 2010 event earlier this month. The 11-strong Hult team emerged as key leaders in foreign policy-making and diplomacy winning 3 major awards at the closing ceremony and a number of other academic and non-academic titles.

EuroMUN 2010 in Maastricht, Netherlands hosted more than 530 delegates, from 111 universities, and 50 different nations. The Hult team consisted of undergraduate and master students from Hult’s ModelUN Club and for many this was their first MUN event. At the end of the four day conference of heated negotiations and debates Hult students Vanessa Matos and Victoria Martinez were both awarded as Best Delegates, and Divya Nawale received an Honourable Mention.

Hult students had their efforts once again recognized at the Official Delegates Ball with Juan Jose Rosel winning Mr. EuroMUN, Divya Nawale taking home the title of Miss Human Rights Council and Vanessa Matos voted as Miss Social Cultural and Humanitarian Committee.

Hult Honors Track student recognized by US President Obama
(London—May 26, 2010) Hult 2010 Honors Track student Masooma Habibi has been recognized by President Obama for her entrepreneurial achievements at The Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship in Washington D.C. She was also highly commended by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who congratulated the delegates for “not merely [being] successful entrepreneurs but pioneering entire industries for their countries.”

Born in an Afghani refugee camp in Iran, along with her siblings Ms. Habibi had to weave carpets to support her family. However after the fall of the Taliban she traveled back to Afghanistan with a vision to help her country. In 2008 she was accepted to 10,000 Women, a global initiative sponsored by Goldman Sachs, to provide underprivileged women business and management education through an eight-month entrepreneurship program. After learning electrical engineering and business administration from the ground up, Ms. Habibi launched Check Up Company, an electrical engineering consultancy. The company provides consulting services to large customers, including international companies and now has 22 employees. She has also begun a non-profit called My Hope, which aims to create jobs for 1,000 women in Afghani provinces.

Now, Ms. Habibi is planning her move to attend Hult in the fall where she will study International Relations and International Business. “With her thirst for a global education and desire to network with people from all over the world we are certain Ms. Habibi will excel at Hult and we look forward to welcoming her onto campus.” Chris Hein, Executive Director of Admissions.

Co-founder of Apple to speak at the opening of Hult San Francisco
(San Francisco—May 27, 2010) In celebration of the opening of its new West Coast campus, Hult International Business School is proud to announce that Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, will be addressing its student body in San Francisco on September 27th.

A Silicon Valley icon for more than thirty years, Steve Wozniak has helped shape the computing industry with his design of Apple’s first line of products the Apple I and II and influenced the popular Macintosh. In 1976, Wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer Inc. with Wozniak’s Apple I personal computer.

For his achievements at Apple Computer, Wozniak was awarded the National Medal of Technology by the President of the United States in 1985, the highest honor bestowed on America’s leading innovators.

After leaving Apple in 1985, Wozniak was involved in various business and philanthropic ventures, focusing primarily on computer capabilities in schools and stressing hands-on learning and encouraging creativity for students. Wozniak currently serves as Chief Scientist for Fusion-IO.

Steve will be discussing the topic of “How to foster creativity and innovation in a corporate environment” with the Hult student body. Dr Hitendra Patel, Hult’s Professor of Innovation and Growth, will moderate the event.

Dr Luis Timms, the Dean of the Hult’s San Francisco campus, said, “We are extremely excited to be welcoming Steve Wozniak to our new campus. We opened in San Francisco to give our students exposure to the unique mix of innovation, venture capital and ambition that exists here. Steve’s experience will give our students a unique perspective on what it takes to succeed.”

我是去旧金山校区的，对于项目我也是从上一届的校友了解一些，不过对于2011的校友来说应该在将来会有很客观的介绍及解释 ：）
不过我可以提一点那就并不是打电话发邮件就可能会被录取，就像之前有人说过，只是一种营销手段，有兴趣可以了解，没兴趣刻可以回避但是在不确定的情况下随便给学校下定义也是很不负责的行为。

截止2010年6月，HULT提供本科、硕士、全职MBA、在职MBA、EMBA、短期高管培训等六大项目。
其中本科专业有三个：                  International Business、International Relations、
                                                  Communications
硕士(MBA除外)专业有四个：       Master of Finance、Master of International Business、
                                    Master of Digital Marketing、Master of Arts in International Relations
校区有五个：                            Boston、San Francisco、London、Dubai、Shanghai

Boston Campus：            适用于Full time MBA做主校区
San Francisco Campus:   适用于Full time MBA和Master of International Business做主校区
London Campus：           适用于Full time MBA、所有三个undergraduate专业、所有四个master专业做主校区
Dubai Campus:                适用于Full time MBA、Part time MBA、Master of International Business、Master of Finance、短期高管培
                                         训、EMBA做主校区
Shanghai Campus:          暂还不是任何program的主校区，仅用作Full time MBA、Part time MBA、Master of International Business、

PS1：
至于每个专业及每个校区分别有多少人，说实话我也记不太清楚了呵呵，我只熟悉美国的情况(Boston及San Francisco校区)，2010年9月1日开学时到时候会是波士顿校区纯粹只有220人Full time MBA,旧金山校区纯粹只有100人Full time MBA和100人Master of International Business。如果没记错的话，Full time MBA在伦敦校区和迪拜校区应该是分别100人和60人吧

PS2：
考虑到Hult的Campus Rotation Program的缘故，每个校区的人数都会随着上课到一定阶段有一定变化。拿我熟悉的Full time MBA 来说，program一共是分为ABCD四个module的。其中AB两个module(8月28日到4月30日)只能在你选定的某个主校区(不包含上海)上课，module C可以选定五大校区的任意一处上选修课，module D可以在除上海以外的任一校区上选修课。但是最后8月28日统一强制要求你回到最开始的主校区参加毕业典礼

我只是9月份即将去Hult读MBA的学生，不负责啥招生也不是托呵呵。 只是因为当时拿了其他诸如NUS等不止一个offer，在最后确定去Hult之前做了很长的思想斗争，又在CD和国外的一些其他MBA申请网站都发了大量求教帖、google了很多翔实信息，故算是对Hult非常了解咯  然后呢，更主要的是因为我自己的个性又一直都是很热心不嫌麻烦 去主动做很多事情的，故狂灌水ing呵呵，尽管我发的大部分信息都是从Hult网站copy过来的，几乎就是干了复制+粘贴+汇总的活呵呵。

至于要核实我是不是即将去读书的学生，你看下我5月初当时在亚太版申请区和北美版申请区发的两个求帮选择的帖子及各自五六页的回复就清楚了呵呵
