第二个是同位语还是定语从句, 如果fear做及物动词的话, 那么可以理解为定语从句不, 这样的话那个that是不是可以省略

根据题目的内容我觉得rather 和instead 应该可以互换的。

看了些别人解释 rather / instead 都是副词， 可以修饰动词，但是副词不能直接加不定式和ing分词，所以 这题直接就排除BCDE, 选A。
