Anglene, Thank you for your message. I read your blog and am extremely impressed by your passion on your dream. We share lots of similar things. I also just got a $10k funding to award young american students to visit chinese schools & villiages in poor areas. Wharton EMBA may not be a good choice for me mainly because it is part time (didn't know that) and very difficult for me to travel to Philly every other Friday. Have you already decided not attending Yale? Yale is very attractive to me because of its non-profit and powerful alumni network (I was impressed to learn how much donation from Yale college to SOM because they care the whole Yale university). It's also helpful to know that MIT doesn't not want an applicant to apply both regular and Sloan Fellow at the same time. Best wishes for you and your family. I know how important the support from family is. We are expecting our first baby and luckily our parents are here to help. Both of us have full time jobs, and run our own businesses & non-profit organizations -- then the MBA application and the coming baby on top of them--- really stressful indeed. I further share your pain on your current job. My wife is also a very ambitious/gifted girl but the glass ceiling (minority/female) in a traditional US company is really something she can not overcome with. But this may just give us the opportunity and motivation to pursue even bigger dreams on our own (with the help of a top MBA-- there goes why MBA! ) |
