OG解释说这里用as引导短语就是错的，为什么？？？还有我知道a method是作为同位语来就近解释的，那这里它是解释items of military equipment呢？还是解释military equipment，为什么？还有一个问题，正确答案是C，那么protecting是修饰animal-hide shields with wooden frames were essential items of military equipment这句话的吗？如果不是，那它是在修饰谁呢？

as 后面是只能加句子的

a method是不能作为同位语来就近解释的,因为前面的military equipment并不是一种方法

所以只能用protecting指带前面的句子啦

这是我自己的看法，请ＮＮ们指正

差不多同意楼上，items of military equipment的中心词是items，不能用a method就近指待，否则句子逻辑混乱也有歧义。protecting指待的是前面的句子还是中心词items？？

我觉得也是句子，因为我一直认为doing修饰的应该是它前面的整个句子

我的看法不一样, as a method...的话，前面就要有一个名词和method对应。但是没有，所以就用a method来概括前面的内容了。

现在分词短语在句子中有两种作用(以前NN总结的),

1、
        前一个分句的整体对后面某一个对象的作用
            

2、
        两个同时发生的动作
            

分词短语的逻辑主语应该就是主句的主语,所以protecting warriors against enemy arrows and spears

的主语就应该是animal-hide shields with wooden frames,这样分词短语就是用来修饰前面的整个句子的
