如果用 (D) 改了原句子的结构. 把原先的状语部分变成了从句. 使之整句话成了主从句! 所以 (C) 更能贴近原句.

d比c多用了代詞they,代詞多不好.這是語感.
當然,從道理上說,they造成指代不清,又指invertebrates and fish,又指carbohydrates.

语意上的差别: in effect manufacturing, (修饰谓语): 在效果上(等于)制造了xxx; 而so that 从句表示结果: (实际上)因此他们制造了xxxx.  而且so that后面的情态动词不能少(?)

可以说对，也可以说不对。

如果which是指代前面的句子，那么ippohsu gg理解的意思应该是对的。

但是GMAT里，which不能指代前面的一个句子。所以必须改写，常见的改写结构就是这里的manufacturing分词短语表示结果。

类似的结构OG里也有不少，比如下面的setting free...
