Yes, I think this one is critical. OG has several examples showed you that "as...as..." is for positive, and "not so...as..." is for negative. I remember in OG, it does not accept the use of "as...as..." for negative.

I choose D in the first, but thank you remind this important rule.

As for some who think A is not so parrellel, well it is quite parrelle, isn't it?

as....as是可以用在否定中的

另外so...as to不只可以表示目的，还可以表示...以致于和so....that其实意思一样
