电影人认可好莱坞战争片有个循环周期。战争刚结束时，都是歌功颂德，10-15年之后，和平主义占主流。在60年代的电影 “子弹飞”里面，年青一代说这个循环周期是个过时的概念。然而，时间证明，这个循环周期的弹性比社会变革的弹性更大。

证据：
一战中美对德宣战后，当时刚起步的电影业就歌功。到了30年代初，大多数媒体改了风向， 如西线无战事开始反战。
二战开始后，电影作品又变了风向。忽然不再质疑战争，而是歌颂勇气和荣光。GD 的最终牺牲是当时很高级的电影。 然而到了1957年，桂河大桥反战，描述战争中的困惑思想得了大奖。
宣称这套循环周期消亡了的人，他们这个宣称是非理性的。越战期间，JW主演的绿色贝雷帽和瓜岛日记调性相近，和桂河大桥不是一派的。同样，电影 AN和P也是多年后才出现的（估计也是反战）

如今电影作品和观众都更多样化，但是这个循环仍然在，第一个多层次描写海湾战争的电影也是十多年后才拍的。另外的证据是电影ANR的上映，本来包括一些情节，但是纸片考虑到会引起观众反感。

所以，有句话说：万变不离其宗，适用于电影行业。
