6. Q7:

The primary purpose of the passage is to

  1. explain how the findings of a particular experiment have been interpreted and offer an alternative interpretation
  2. describe a particular experiment and point out one of its limitations

  3. present similarities between human memory and animal memory

  4. point out a flaw in the argument that a certain capacity is uniquely human

  5. account for the unexpected behavior of animal subjects in a particular experiment

9. Q10:

In order for Clayton’s experiment to show that scrub jays have episodic-like memory, which of the following must be true in the experiment? D  E

  1. Some of the jays retrieved stored peanuts on the first occasion they were allowed to retrieve food.

  2. All the crickets were retrieved before any of the peanuts were.

  3. The peanuts were stored further away than the crickets.

  4. When a jay attempted to retrieve a cricket or a peanut, the jay was prevented from eating it.

  5. Throughout the experiment the jays were fed at levels typical of a time of scarcity我想E是在说实验相对比较准确,就是鸟儿不会因为特别饿而对食物不加选择吧。

According to the passage, part of the evidence that scrub jays can bind information is that they

  1. showed by their behavior that they were reexperiencing the past

  2. used information acquired through past experiences

  3. assessed the freshness of food that had been stored by other jays

  4. remembered what kind of food was stored in a particular location

  5. recollected single bits of information about sources of food

7. Q8:

According to the passage, part of the evidence that scrub jays can bind information is that they

              D

  1. showed by their behavior that they were reexperiencing the past

  2. used information acquired through past experiences

  3. assessed the freshness of food that had been stored by other jays

  4. remembered what kind of food was stored in a particular location

  5. recollected single bits of information about sources of food

同问!我选b,文中提到as distinct from the capacity simply to use information acquired through past experiences.  加上后文的试验,说明animal是能够use information acquired through past experiences,但是能不能reexperiencing却不能证明所以叫episodic-like” memory

d是不对的,因为要bind information 必须要记得when where what,仅仅记得location是不能算bind information的,比较起来,b选项比较好,说明动物能够把过去的experience bind到一起,综合利用。

題目問的是 " part of the evidence " that jay can bind imformation

bind infoformation : what , where, when

答案d --- jays  remembed  " what " kind of food was stored in a particular " location "

According to these

criteria, episodic memories are not of

individual bits of information; they involve

multiple components of a single event

bound together

Such experiments cannot,

however, reveal whether the birds were

reexperiencing the past when retrieving the

information.

however, reveal whether the birds were

reexperiencing the past when retrieving the

information.

Q10:

In the wild, these birds store food

for retrieval later during periods of food

 (20)      scarcity.

Q10,

In order for Clayton’s experiment to show that scrub jays have episodic-like memory, which of the following must be true in the experiment?

E.  Throughout the experiment the jays were fed at levels typical of a time of scarcity.

E? account for the unexpected behavior of animal subjects in a particular experiment

B中的one of the limitation 是说什么?

Such experiments cannot, however, reveal whether the birds were reexperiencing the past when retrieving the information.
