Here is an easier example of short term and long term goal. I am not an expert in this though as I am also an applicant.
Application Position: A strategic person with very diverse cultural background and international perspective through years of work experience in international firm/abroad from home town. The self-claimed personality is further supported by extensive volunteer experience as coordinator in international organization such as W.H.O.
LT goal: A senior executive at an international healthcare consulting firm to allow easier access of healthcare service to the general public
ST goal: A consultant position in an international consulting firm to accumulate experience, network, and skills.
I made the above up, but I think you should have an idea.
As for your second question about how many schools to apply, there is no answer to that. In general, most people think that 4~6 schools is a good number because it allows an appropriate balance of Quantity v.s. Quality. However, I have also heard of people applying to 20 schools and got offered by 12 of them. Just keep in mind that school applications are quite expensive. You should also consider how much time you want to put into one school. Since we are already at the last app cycle for most schools, I think you should focus on a limited set (maybe 4 ?)of schools and ensure you deliver the best of yourself to them.
Please note that I am no expert in this. This is just some of my opinions as an applicant. Perhaps you should speak to a MBA consultant about this. |
