我的疑问是：曼哈顿上说现在分词在主谓宾句型后，可以表伴随，主语就是主句的逻辑主语，为什么不能用earning呢？谢谢各路大神指点！

其实我觉得这边earning不是判断的split，主要是so that的使用错误，B 中for 在这里如果是“因为”的意思，就一定是连词，那么后面to be 自然就错了

嗯 答案可以判断出来 就是有点疑惑用earning做伴随可以吗？

这里的earning可以！唯一担心的还是意思上哪个更好的问题。抛开意思不谈，你要是换个别的doing，自己造个句子，也是可以的，比如outperforming all the other polits in her time

逗号加v-ing修饰前面的句子时，v-ing后面必须是前面句子的直接结果。所以这里用earning不行，这是一个split

能不能理解为Ving在这里表示伴随动作呢，不理解为伴随结果？我跟楼主一样的疑问，这个句子逻辑主语就是主句主语the pilot,为什么不能用earing呢？感觉OG解释有问题
