答案是A，根据解释，which指代a technique.
但是根据MANHATTAN，Use WHICH ONLY to refer to the noun immediately preceding it. 个人感觉很矛盾，望大侠指教~

请仔细读句子，a technique 就是proton-induced X-ray emission，which指代proton-induced X-ray emission也就是指代a technique。不知道楼主有什么可矛盾的。
