In a residential building, most but not all of the fourth-floor apartments are larger than any apartment on the second floor. The third-floor apartments are all larger than any apartment on the second floor.In addition, all the second-floor apartments are larger than any apartment on the first floor.

If the statements above are true, which one of the following statements must also be true?

(A) Some first-floor apartments are as large as the smallest third-floor apartments.

(B) Some first-floor apartments are as large as the smallest fourth-floor apartments.

(C) Some fourth-floor apartments are not as large as the largest first-floor apartments.

(D) Some fourth-floor apartments are not as large as the smallest third-floor apartments.

(E) Some third-floor apartments are not as large as the largest ~~third~~ fourth-floor apartments.
