选C是明白啦  比较对象是plants and fungi  但是有两个疑问
1.比较的是efficient at acqiuring ...and converting...
为何converting前不加at 呢  不是说平行中的介词补出的么
2.Plants are more efficient at acquiring carbon 中 carbon 在句子中是什么成分 是介宾中的宾语么

其实是Plants are more efficient  at acquiring carbon  and converting it to energy-rich sugars than fungi 。这里头重脚轻了，把短的比较放前面了。 carbon 算是介宾的宾语吧，反正类似。 就像be good at playing football中的football是的。
比较的是主语plants和fungi
