Duke Info this year

Sorry for the late info from Fuqua this year. We really have fewer people. And everyone is crazy about Fall 1 courses and searching info of summer internship. Actually Duke is not a Party school. Every day is busy, but exciting. Eg. today, we meet a famous actor, Yang Lixin, at lunch. He will make a speech tonight. Our former Dean helped us take pictures with him, one by one. So you can feel the culture here. Everyone you meet is so kind.

Just a little info about the candidates of Daytime 2013 at Fuqua.

1. We have 15 people from China this year, including one with green card. The number of this year is only half of that of last year. We have 4 girls and 11 guys. However, there were more girls last year. The total No. of students is 444 at Fuqua, and 30% of total students are international ones.
2. People's background is really diverse. We have a captain, bankers, engineers... So no matter what background you have, you will have an opportunity to join. Just make a shining story of your life.
3. I feel that half of us have international experience, before joining Fuqua. I'm not sure about the No.
4. Most people's GMAT scores are 700+, and TOEFL scores are 100+. Actually, Duke does have admitted people whose TOEFL score is below 100. I've heard of 99. But your background should be really strong. Eg. you work for big names.

1. According to the admission director, the number of Chinese admits was normal last year, while the year before last was "abnormal" simply because every candidates who got the offer decided to "Go Duke".

2. I would say we have average five years of working experience. The age range for the admitted students is large (24-37) and industry background is very diverse, ranging from banking, manufacturing, telecommunications, government, aviation to name just a few.

3. I think you can find this info in  Fuqua website.

This is the BS that the school is feeding people. Not only are there fewer Chinese, but fewer Asians (Thai, Korean, Indian) in general. I find it hard to believe that all of sudden the yield dropped that significantly. If it did, and I was on the AdCom, I would be very concerned about the development. In contrast, the admit from Latin America and Europe have gone up. This is a clear policy change. I know the former dean, Blair Sheppard, faced a lot of criticism for the Kunshan campus. The pressure was the unofficial reason for his resignation.

Duke's students do have diverse background. One of my teammates has been nurse for over 10 years. One is a math teacher. and one worked in a NGO consulting firm.
I feel that applying for Duke shouldn't worry about your background. Just polish your story. If it is brilliant enough, you will get a chance to join.

觉得，作为中国人，在美国学习就是global experience了吧。当然可以在美国实习啊，工作啊，或者去中国以外的国家实习和工作。还有，DUKE也很大多数MBA项目一样，有交换的学校，不过大家一般都是工作搞定了之后才去的。比较热门的地方是意大利和西班牙。

CIBER 参加很方便，部分项目（绝大多数）需要另外交钱（不包括差旅费用）。至于学校的global project是否都有CIBER组织，个人不知道。

请问楼主能否介绍一下CIBER, 学校的global project是否全是由CIBER组织的？学生应该如何参与？

不会。老美是这样子的，经常遇到技术问题。但是他们会比较认真的处理，并且从用户角度考虑。比如我们去Target买菜，经常遇到称坏了，或者条形码扫描不进去，Target会把菜送给你，不收钱，因为是他们公司的责任。

申请时付application fee碰到一个问题，来这边问下楼主。
整个申请都submit完了之后，没有地方让我交钱，写信问了adcom的人，说是系统问题我先啥都不用做。
想问下，这个会影响到package在round 1被review的进度吗？
