1.    Do you agree the with the following statement? Those who do not accept other’s criticism can not succeed.

Historically, a wide range of civilized cultures, from the ancient Yellow River primitive civilization to old-fashioned European literatures to the modern North American society, all to a certain extent cherish the tenet that no one is perfect or is free from other’s advisories. Some famous persons, including lofty statesmen, prestigious artists and renowned scientists, however successful their past experiences, they become more subject to future failure, with a growingly headstrong decision making and an increasingly self-willed mind.

One thing we are supposed to bear in mind is that a thoroughly understanding of the specific problem, with its causes carefully analysed, the methodology studied and finally the countermeasure carried out, is the gateway to success. Unfortunately, human race is a fragile creature and always vulnerable to their own one-sided judgment and discrimination from within. In contrast, in most cases, the ideal avenue leads to triumph is rational and disinterested thinking rather than emotional and partial choices. Therefore, the severe disparity between decision making and perception calls for other’s rectifications and thereby generating a warranted, evenhanded and rational blue print.

Granted, everyone is entitled to the privilege of interpreting their own definition of success. On the other hand, the proper and justified definition of success must abide by the social morality and some ethical standards. The World War II demon Hitler is a case in point. All the German tyrant chased is massacres, wars, deaths, invasions and conquering. Without regard to other’s criticisms, Hitler deviated from the proper sense of success but indulged himself in the evil way of self-actualization. Obviously, consulting criticism can correct our thoughts and behavior, preventing us from committing horrible crimes.

Last but not least, referring to ideas or critiques not only widens ones outlook but also stimulates creatively productive ideas. Most of us have the similar experiences in which our essays or assignment are critically judged by our professors or instructors. It is no exaggeration to say that it is the criticism we received that causes a major shift in our learning capability and thinking methodology. After reconsidering and absorbing inspiriting suggestion, we are likely to gain a deeper understanding and generate totally innovative outputs.

To sum up, criticism from others is a vital part of the cornerstone of success. Notwithstanding clinging to one’s own ideas regardless of other’s opinions costs less time and money to make a decision, complying with fine criticism can refine our work and even eschew counterproductive results. Consequently, for all the merits discussed above, critically accepting other’s criticism is always an essential ingredient of success.
