Marconi conceived of the radio as a tool for private conversation that could substitute for the telephone 这句话中as a tool for private conversation和that could substitute for the telephone都是用来修饰radio的，所以it可以指代radio..

如果仅用became，句子更强调的是become这个动词，即转变的一瞬间发生的事情。而用has become强调状态，强调古到今的状态或影响，更体现形态，即“它成为了什么东西”

恩，我发表下个人意见：朗文英语字典中对become的定义是：to begin to be sth or to develop in a particular way.从英译角度来说并不能简单的将become看做一个瞬间发生的动作，因为它有一个develop的意思在里面。我觉得原题中使用has become强调的是一种状态，过去发生且延续至今，如果单单使用became，句子的逻辑解释就只能停留在当时，虽然不错，但从GMAT SC的考试宗旨来说，选择最恰当的，明显用has become更妥当。

manhattan一类书，类似于prep笔记啊之类的。
非延续性动词不可以用完成时加一段时间连用；如果单纯使用完成时是可以的

manhattan这句话是什么意思阿我怎么没看懂

这里为什么要用现在完成时，是因为事件在过去发生，动作一直持续到现在或影响现在吗

可是这个become可以用作完成时么，我怎么记得当年初中里讲这样的瞬间动词是不能作为完成时的？只有持续性动词才可以这样用啊。否则，radio也不能一直在become吧。。。
还是我记错了。。。
