UU们好，申请季收到UCLA和INSEAD两个offer，各有利弊，求帮忙建议！
做的是Financial Archival, 包括esg, fund, disclosure都很感兴趣～

前两年market很糟糕，而且UCLA PhD program中间停了很多年，maybe that's why we can't think of any of their recent gradautes。Insead最近10年的最强的应该是SMU的S Huang，but he's from Finance if i remember it correctly。

Anyway，既然 LZ能拿到2个这么好的offer，应该已经对accounting research有不错的概念了。祝一切顺利

I took a moment to peruse the UCLA and INSEAD Accounting faculty profiles, and this confirmed my earlier belief that the latter is as strong as the former. Also, at the aggregate level, INSEAD is one half tier above UCLA. Therefore, I am inclined to buy Raccoon Paw's second thoughts above.

ACCT选校的角度我个人不认为No brainer选UCLA。UCLA近几年的place相较于本身的brand来说平平无奇，今年市场上的韩国老哥最后去了CUHKSZ，我没找到他的CV不太清楚老哥的自身水平有没有RR这些。在没有做deep research的情况下，我个人很难说这两个offer哪个更好。unfortunately，我并没有关于这两所学校的private information，建议你多和在读学生聊一下，也可以找一下这几年的JM google sheet看看。选校还是要自己多做功课。

Congrats!! I would choose UCLA. No brainer。论senior faculty，他们有Siew Hong, Judson, Henry，这都是editor/ex editor，你还可以选择做theory or empirical。论placement，UCLA 也有place 到UCB, Kellogg的。

Now it’s a fair claim. As LZ’s specific asking for accounting programs, it is better we have the suggestion based on accounting itself, not the general or macro view.

Okay. You are absolutely right. Mine is a macro view, though, and I think my claim that INSEAD is comparable to HBS, Wharton, and the like is not quite off the mark.

As is rightly pointed out below, even the concentrations of schools of the stature of HBS are not even in research strength, faculty reputation, and placements. But it is generally safe to say that the higher a program/school ranks, the lower the differential in quality among its different concentrations.

其实就算是hbs，也有些专业一般的。真正六边形的可能只有chicago/stanford。
