答案是D，我选了C，OG解释说C项 the placement of the modifier at this stage makes the modifier appear to describe origin of the birds rather than the verb seems，然而我没看出来区别= =求大牛指教！

C选项的  at this stage 需要就近修饰，自然便修饰了 origin，句意便变成了 激化了关于在此阶段鸟类起源的争论，而非原意：在此阶段激化了关于鸟类起源的争论；改变了句意

"The wealth... seems" fixes the subject/verb issue, but the modifier "at this stage" seems to indicate that the birds are at a particular stage - illogical. We want to say that it "seems likely at this stage."

比较奇怪这题为什么OG没有提到rather than和more的搭配问题，是否真的不能用rather than?

有两个疑问
（1）be more likely to do能不能搭配rather than
（2）be more likely to do than to do可不可以省略后面的to do，变成be more likely to do than do
