我觉得这题因该是A。因为原文讨论的是志愿能不能使人寿命变长。

A在说一种人长不长寿和他们做不做volunteer.

C说的是大脑里分泌这种东西会使人感到症状减轻。

所以A更加直接。C则需要添加减轻症状后会怎么样怎么样最终延长寿命。所以选A

感觉选A很矛盾，题目说，however， that statistic would be what we would expect even if volunteering does not boost longevity because...

既然都假设“即使志愿活动不会造成长寿，结果还会像我们期待的那样”，感觉上给的一个新理由就应该与志愿活动无关，所以c靠谱点儿（虽然证明力度很弱）。

NN帮忙梳理下吧

我觉得选C

因为题目最后一句说 if volunteering does not boost longevity（志愿行为不导致长寿）而A选项说的就是VOLUNTEER比较多的女人比做得少的男人更长寿，因此跟这句话不符。并且，这种男人女人的比较在原文中并未体现。

而C的意思是志愿行为会对缓解某些病的症状有一定好处。强调的是除了长寿以外还有其他好处。符合原文意思。

仅供参考。

题目说讨论的是志愿工作会否令人长寿，并提出了统计数据说是。但作者其实是反对统计数据这个论据的，However, that statistic would be what we would expect even if volunteering does not boost longevity, 其实就是作者的目的——否定以上统计数据的有效性。

因为作者提出做志愿工作的女生比男生多，而女生本来就比男生长寿，所以统计数据的长寿可能与志愿工作根本无关。—— A

题目的关键是掌握作者的立场，作者是认为统计数据是无效的

even if只是引导了一个状语从句，省略掉，句子的主干是that statistic would be what we would expect ，because-----

题目问为什么统计结果和我们期望的一样，只能选择C

前面的statistics说的是一个现象：做义工比不做的义工的长寿。however这一句说，即使做义工并不是使人长寿的原因，我们还是认同这个现象。那么正确选项应该是一个原因能解释这个现象的。应该跟statistics挂上关系。所以A对。而C无关statistics。

关键Focus on the conclusion.结论说，就算志愿工作不能使人长命，数据的结果都是志愿者比非志愿者长命，问为什么？

志愿工作不能使人长命，其实在Weaken以上的推理链，切断志愿与寿命的逻辑关系，答案必然要体现这种Weaken.

A.1）女人做志愿工作比男人更多；2）女人比男人长命。注意AND，1）2）是并列关系，不是因果
女人天然比男人长命，而女人做志愿工作又比男人多，所以Study时，很容易得出结果，志愿工作多的人（女人）较长命（天生长命），但其实两者无因果关系。Weaken了推理链，回答了问题。

C Weaken背景中第二个推理链，与结论（所要解释的问题）无关

调整一下原文语序：

Women本身就更多地做志愿者，同时，women天生比men长寿，
由此，不是志愿工作让一部分人更长寿，而是，women与men天生的差别所致。

passage 说的是help others can release endorphins, and then increase longevity. Statistic 说的是volunteer 更长寿。结论要是我们证明的是，即使volunteer不会令人长寿，volunteer还是比非volunteer更长寿的。A就完全说明了这一点啦~~就是volunteer比非volunteer长寿而且与endorphins无关（因为A没提到en吖~~）

关键在题目的理解
题目说的是：即使义工不能长寿（假设的事实），从统计数据中可以得出我们想要的结果（心中所向）——做义工可以长寿。
这就说明是统计上出现了问题
C说做义工可以“暂时”掩盖症状，让他们看起来可以长寿，但是实际上病情没有减轻=》事实是做义工不能长寿，但是统计数据却得出做义工可以长寿
A中说女人做更多义工，同时女人活得更长。这个并不能显示事实和统计数据之间的 disparity
