标题: phd--accounting 是否有希望?
请教一下:
   基本情况:
   gmat 660, verbel 28, math50
   托福准备10-18, 估计600+
   本科\研究生都是一般院校,明年毕业,
至今只发了一篇论文,而且是一般的省级杂志.
读研之前在外企做会计/财务总监助理1.5年

有没有可能申请ut austin?或者有没有别的选择

1) do some school researching , you may forget UT Austin.,
2)Generally speaking

h.D applicant got a 700+ . best is 750+ .
3)Ph.D student all automatically get full scholarship.

Can you apply a Master degree first and then switch to Ph.D program? If you do well in master program, maybe you'll get more chance.

660 is just the average GMAT of MACC at Austin.
If you really want to apply for top PHD in acct, first your undergrad degree should be acct, second your undergrad GPA should be at least 3.8, third you should get your degree from top univ in China, fourth you must get a GMAT of 700+, 750+ is not a must (for PHD in acct, average GMAT is 20-30 below the average of GMAT of PHD in biz as a whole), fifth you should have English paper in leading journal in USA. Otherwise, forget Austin.
I understand that most ppl want to go to top univ, but I must point out that for most of them, their expectation is too high, at least for their current situations. They must do a complete research and give them an objective evaluation before application.

Not all PHDs can get scholarship.
Some univs just give part-scholarship, such as Boston University.
Some admit PHDs without giving any fianancial aid, such as UT Dallas.
After 911, more and more univs did so.

UT Dallas has Biz PHD? man, I will register an University tomorrow and provide Biz PHD program myself. sorry, no scholarship if you want to apply for my school.

这两天,我一直都在想这个问题,我想我还是不能做到forget it, 但是,已经不是想当初那么激情的去梦想了. 或许,由一些曲线救国的路子. 慢慢来吧.

top program is almost impossible, try some second-tier programs but never risk all your application on it.

don't give up if 心中仍有梦.

what you can do is the following:

step 1. apply for a master degree from a english speaking country. don't only focus on america. try canadian or australian universities. get good grades there.

step 2. work for several years in fields related to accounting. not too many years, but at least 2 to 3 years.

step 3. retake GMAT. by that time you apply for american b school, your GMAT will have expired. but that's to your advantage. you can retake it without having any record left.

step 4. see you in america!
