1.B(选错,应选C),对比的对象要一致。根据后半句archaeologist needs specialized knowledge of…to… B错误,一是没有so/as/so too搭配;二是just as后面的句子不是独立完整的句子。
句型:just as A do, so B do.
1)        just as A do, so B do.
2)        A do, just as B do.
3)        Just as..., so…
4)        Just as…, as…
5)        Just as…, so too… (so with是错的)

2.D,a novelist who… 主句的the first woman and also the first Swedish writer并列
3.E,placed in a bank…修饰money,从句的主句是allows money to be transferred
4.A
5.D(选错,应选E),B的and putting没有与之对应的并列结构,排除;C的owing to不对,and putting没有对应的并列,排除。
P was an easy task, since X, Y, and Z put gold within reach of…。 因为它不是put gold within reach of anybody的直接原因,而是gold-bearing riverbeds thrust to the surface的直接原因。
知识点1:reach for sth:伸手抓某物;reach of sb:在某人能触及到的范围内

6.D,主句:the industrial revolution was marked by the use of A, B, and C。排除ABE。C by their using不对,排除。
8.A,whales include,排除DE。Which从句修饰killer whale。
9.A,句子主干是:concerns led to the construction to serve Boston。
3 times the price than the drugs maker charges… D错误,of what the drugs maker charges (要charge的就是price),所以price of what就变成price of price。E的at which不对,因为charge a price就可以了,不需要加别的介词。
知识点1:times表达倍数的用法:x times as… as… ; x times the +noun. ; x times more than

Between会有歧义,应该是construction between,B选项很容易理解成污水系统between
E--C
Times
1. X times as adj./adv as
2. X times the Noun.
3. X times more than
that指代price
three times the price that 药商 charges for
此外charge at a price错误,sell sth at a price可以
拓展:charge a price for sth.

D.Like the archaeologist who evaluates finds of ancient art and requires a background in art history, so the
E.As evaluating finds of ancient art requires an archaeologist who has a background in art history, so the
B✖  C✔
A: the background和the nautical archaeologist不平行,A错误;just like表达wordy; in order to不如to简洁
B: B错误;just as后面没有so/as/so too搭配, 比较结构错误; just as后面句子主谓不完整
C: 正确
D: D错误;like…, so…比较结构错误; evaluates finds of ancient art and requires a background in art history打破了原来的目的状语结构, evaluate应该是requires a BG in art history的目的
E: 不平行,E错误;as…, so...

2.(230)Turning away from literary realism to write romantic stories about the peasant life and landscape of northern Sweden, in 1909 Selma Lagerlöf was the novelist who became the first woman and was also the first Swedish writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature.
A.Turning away from literary realism to write romantic stories about the peasant life and landscape of northern Sweden, in 1909 Selma Lagerlöf was the novelist who became the first woman and was also the first Swedish writer to win
B.She turned away from literary realism and wrote romantic stories about the peasant life and landscape of northern Sweden, and novelist Selma Lagerlöf in 1909 became the first woman as well as the first Swedish writer that won
C.Selma Lagerlöf was a novelist who turned away from literary realism to write romantic stories about the peasant life and landscape of northern Sweden, and in 1909 she became the first woman in addition to the first Swedish writer winning
D.A novelist who turned away from literary realism to write romantic stories about the peasant life and landscape of northern Sweden, Selma Lagerlöf became in 1909 the first woman and also the first Swedish writer to win
E.As a novelist, Selma Lagerlöf turned away from literary realism and wrote romantic stories about the peasant life and landscape of northern Sweden, in 1909 becoming the first woman and also the first Swedish writer that won
D
A: in 1909位置不对,不是SL在1909是小说家,而是在1909获奖;became the first woman and was also the first Swedish writer,意思是SL成为第一个女人,A错误;in 1909放在Selma前面不好, turning away的修饰对象Selma被隔远了(也是一个典型错误); in 1909 Selma Lagerlöf was the novelist荒谬的说SL只有在1909年才从现实主义文学成为浪漫小说家, 应该是1909年成为first woman…; and后面的多出了was使得原义变为SL是第一个女人, 意思不对, 应去掉was
B: She和SL割裂,B错误;She无指代, and novelist Selma使得两个分句分裂成两个人的事; turn away from…to…改为了from…and…少了“弃前取后” 的逻辑关系; as well as有主次之分,分开了first woman和first Wewdish writer的平等关系, 使得that仅指代了Swedish writer, 使得前面became the first woman成为第一个女人, 意思不对
C: “in addition to” 将整个结构完全分解为两个独立的部分, 使句子含义犯了成为“第一个女人” 的错误,C错误;the first…winning习惯用法错误,应该是the first to win
D: 正确;在这里如果去掉了also反而不好了, 如果就X and Y, 一般是用于指两个不同的人, 如果有了also, 一般指的是对同一个对象的两个描述, 不过去掉also问题也不大; first woman和first Swedish writer必须平起平坐(凭这点就能排除A,B,C); the first…to do sth正确用法

B: 错误同A,B错误; because of后面累赘; allow sth.
C: 没有允许的含义在里面,C错误;如果allow意为允许, 则需要用allow sb. to do sth. If "allows that" did mean "permits," you'd have to change the "is transferred" to "to be transferred,"。
E:

4.(232)The Acoma and Hopi are probably the two oldest surviving Pueblo communities, both dating back at least a thousand years.
A.both dating
B.both of which have dated
C.and each has dated
D.and each one dating
E.each one of which date
B✖ A✔
B: B错误;which指代的是two oldest surviving Pueblo communities, 带入即both of two oldest surviving Pueblo communities可以发现both和two重复; date的现在完成时有潜在含义说“以后都不是追溯到1000年以前了”, 要用一般现在时或者分词形式, 分词形式的潜在时态与主句一致。

5.(233)Prospecting for gold during the California gold rush was a relatively easy task, because of erosion, prehistoric glacier movement, and ancient, gold-bearing riverbeds thrust to the surface by volcanic activity put gold literally within reach for anybody with a pan or shovel.
A.because of erosion, prehistoric glacier movement, and ancient, gold-bearing riverbeds thrust to the surface by volcanic activity put gold literally within reach for
B.because of erosion, prehistoric glacier movement, and volcanic activity that thrust ancient, gold-bearing riverbeds to the surface, and putting gold literally within reach of
C.owing to erosion, prehistoric glacier movement, and volcanic activity that had thrust ancient, gold-bearing riverbeds to the surface, and putting gold literally within reach of
D.since erosion, prehistoric glacier movement, and volcanic activity that thrust ancient, gold-bearing riverbeds to the surface, putting gold literally within reach for
E.since erosion, prehistoric glacier movement, and ancient, gold-bearing riverbeds thrust to the surface by volcanic activity put gold literally within reach of
D✖  E✔
A: because of 后面接了谓语动词put,A错误;reach for anybody含义错误
B: and putting 和前面主语不平行;because of后的核心名词是erosion, prehistoric glacier movement, and volcanic activity that thrust ancient, gold-bearing riverbeds to the surface, 而并不是”事件”,逻辑含义错误; volcanic activity并不是put gold within reach of anybody的直接原因,而是gold-breaking riverbeds thrust to the surface的直接原因, 所以第三个并列名词应该是ancient, gold-bearing riverbeds而不是volcanic activity; and putting和前面的名词短语erosion, prehistoric glacier movement, and volcanic activity that hadthrust ancient, gold-bearing riverbeds to the surface逻辑上不能并列, 实际上后者三个名词是Put的行为主使。
C: and putting错误同B;不需要用had been时态,C错误; owing to和because of用法相似, 错误亦同B中的because of; had thrust用过去完成时表示了thrust发生在主句之前, 可thrust是个缓慢持续, 至今仍在发生的过程, 用过去完成时不合 适; volcanic activity在逻辑上与 erosion, prehistoric glaciermovement不平行

6.(234)The Industrial Revolution, making it possible to mass-produce manufactured goods, was marked by their use of new machines, new energy sources, and new basic materials.
A.making it possible to mass-produce manufactured goods, was marked by their use of
B.making possible the mass production of manufactured goods, marked by the use of
C.which made it possible that manufactured goods were mass-produced, was marked by their using
D.which made possible the mass production of manufactured goods, was marked by the use of
E.which made the mass production of manufactured goods possible and was marked by using
D
A: their指代不清,A错误;their无所指, 若指代goods则逻辑意思错误; 虽然make it possible to do sth.
有问题, 但to mass-produce不定式表示动作趋势, 而mass-produce goods是已经发生的事实, 所以用名词the mass production of manufactured goods更为恰当
C: made it possible that…累赘;their错误同A;by ones' using累赘,C错误;用that引导名词性成分累赘; manufactured goods were mass-produced(产品都是量产)改变原句合理含义(量产产品)
D: 正确;用make it possible to mass-produce或make possible the mass prodcution都没有问题
E: 没有谓语,E错误; make sth. adj.

7.(235)A mixture of poems and short fiction, Jean Toomer's Cane has been called one of the three best novels ever written by Black Americans—the others being Richard Wright, author of Native Son, and Ralph Ellison, author of Invisible Man
A.Black Americans—the others being Richard Wright, author of Native Son, and Ralph Ellison, author of Invisible Man
B.Black Americans—including Native Son by Richard Wright and Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
C.a Black American—including Richard Wright, author of Native Son, and Ralph Ellison, author of Invisible Man
D.a Black American—the others being Richard Wright, author of Native Son, and Ralph Ellison, author of Invisible Man
E.a Black American—the others being Richard Wright's Native Son and Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man
B✖  D✔
Native Son by Richard Wright and Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison和Jean Toomer's Cane不够对称, 不如E好; 歧义同A
E: E正确;the others being用法正确, Jean Toomer's Cane, Richard Wright's NativeSon, Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man平行的最漂亮完美: 不仅仅都是书, 而且都用了所有格

8.(236)The 32 species that make up the dolphin family are closely related to whales and in fact include the animal known as the killer whale, which can grow to be 30 feet long and is famous for its aggressive hunting pods.
A.include the animal known as the killer whale, which can grow to be 30 feet long and is
B.include the animal known as the killer whale, growing as big as 30 feet long and
C.include the animal known as the killer whale, growing up to 30 feet long and being
D.includes the animal known as the killer whale, which can grow as big as 30 feet long and is
E.includes the animal known as the killer whale, which can grow to be 30 feet long and it is
B✖  A✔
A: include主语是species,正确;which修饰killer whale,A正确;
B: B错误;growing修饰了species而不是killer whale;as big as和long重复, 用一个就好(size和length是同一概念)
C: being+adj.
D: includes错误,D错误;long错误同B
E: includes错误,E错误;it is在从句中没有平行,run-on

9.(237)Concerns about public health led to the construction between 1876 and 1904 of three separate sewer systems to serve metropolitan Boston.
A.Concerns about public health led to the construction between 1876 and 1904 of three separate sewer systems to serve
B.Concerns about public health have led to the construction of three separate sewer systems between 1876 and 1904 to serve
C.Concerns about public health have led between 1876 and 1904 to the construction of three separate sewer systems for serving
D.There were concerns about public health leading to the construction between 1876 and 1904 of three separate sewer systems serving
E.There were concerns leading between 1876 and 1904 to the construction of three separate sewer systems for serving
A: A正确
B: 过去的事情,不用have been;between 1876 and 1904修饰concerns,句意错误,B错误;Between 1876 and 1904有修饰systems的歧义, 意思变成了systems只有在1876和1904年之间存在
D: D错误;there are表示的是自然存在, 不能用于concerns之前; Leading时态错
E: E错误;there are错误同D; between 1876 and 1904错误同C; for doing错误同C

10. (238)A new hair-growth drug is being sold for three times the price, per milligram, as the drug's maker charges for another product with the same active ingredient.
A. as
B. than
C. that
D. of what
E. at which
B✖  C✔
A: A错误;X times as adij./adv. as,as不能单独用
B: B错误;X times more than, than必须要与比较级搭配
C: C正确;threes times the price that the drug's maker charges…
D: D错误;what修饰price,从句变成了the drug's maker charges price of price,逻辑错误
E: E错误;price是charge的直接对象(charge a price) , 所以不需要再加介词, 直接that即可;charge at a price是错的, sell sth. at a price倒是可以的(另外price出现在at后面常表示代价)

E.As a novelist, Selma Lagerlöf turned away from literary realism and wrote romantic stories about the peasant life and landscape of northern Sweden, in 1909 becoming the first woman and also the first Swedish writer that won【the first Swedish writer that错误;becoming与turn away之间不具备因果联系,不是改变方向就能获奖】【from…and错误同B;that不能指代 人;句子逻辑上主次颠倒了,重心放到了前半部分】

B.because of erosion, prehistoric glacier movement, and volcanic activity that thrust ancient, gold-bearing riverbeds to the surface, and putting gold literally within reach of【and putting没有并列的】volcanic activity并不是put gold within reach of anybody的直接原因, 而是gold-breaing riverbeds thrust to the surface的直接原因,所以第三个并列名词应该是ancient, gold-bearing riverbeds而不是volcanic activity; and putting和前面 的名词短语erosion, prehistoric glacier movement, and volcanic activity that had thrust ancient, gold-bearing riverbeds to the surface逻辑上不能并列,实际上后者 三个名词是Put的行为主使。
C.owing to erosion, prehistoric glacier movement, and volcanic activity that had thrust ancient, gold-bearing riverbeds to the surface, and putting gold literally within reach of【and putting没有并列的】【 had thrust用过去完成 时表示了thrust发生在主句之前,可thrust是个缓慢持续,至今仍在发生的过程,用 过去完成时不合 适】

B.making possible the mass production of manufactured goods, marked by the use of【making作状语错误】【缺少谓语动词,was,应该是要表达被动语态】
C.which made it possible that manufactured goods were mass-produced, was marked by their using【it形式宾语只能指代不定式或者复合不定式,不能指代that句子?;using不如use, their多余】

C.Concerns about public health have led between 1876 and 1904 to the construction of three separate sewer systems for serving【错误,between 1876 and 1904作为时间状语,而非定语;for doing?】have led时态错误,have lead表示了concern至今依然持续;Between 1876 and 1904 放在lead后面修饰lead只在1876和1904年期间导致了construction,而1904年以后又导致了其他事情,改变句意;表示动作的目的用to do而不用for doing】
D.There were concerns about public health leading to the construction between 1876 and 1904 of three separate sewer systems serving【
E.There were concerns leading between 1876 and 1904 to the construction of three separate sewer systems for serving【

考的比较型是Just as...so...
1. Just as A do, B do.
2. A do, just as B do
3. Just as..., so...
4. Just as..., as...
5. Just as..., so too
D like同A

C in addition to the first Swedish writer
E 没有and连接,run-on sentence

allow somebody to do something
allow that表承认

4. A 考点修饰 grammatical construction
E each one of which是定语从句 不优于同位语修饰

A because of 后面接了完整句子 错误
B and后面和because of平行 没有谓语
C and同B had时态有误

AC的人称it their没有指代排除
B marked by the use

9. A 考点时态 logical prediction
补充:for doing指某事物的具体用途,todo有表目的的含义,for doing有持续性的趋势,而to do是一次性行为

Sold for three times the price that the drug's maker charges for another product
Sold for three times the price as the price
1. 3 times as adj as...
2. 3 times the y...
3. 3 times more than...

Ron:
there's also just a general awkwardness about (d) that would be apparent to most native-born speakers of english. it doesn't look good, it isn't easily readable, and, most importantly, it doesn't emphasize the right thing: the main skeleton of the sentence is "there were concerns", which is NOT the main point. in choice (a), the main skeleton is "concerns led to the construction", which IS the main point.

--

"to serve" is better than "serving", because
* "to serve" implies a sense of purpose or intention (which is precisely what is to be conveyed here), and
* "serving" implies that the systems were already serving boston at the time when they were being constructed.
