虽然这是道争议题，但是我们不去管它，正确答案我觉得是D，
我想知道的是D中的in which 为什么可以修饰response ，而A中有一个错误是with widespread swelling and stiffness可以向前修饰也可以向后修饰，那么向前修饰的话到底修饰的 response呢还是修饰的cuts and sprains ，为什么有人说是cuts and sprains，我觉得应该是response啊？呼唤大牛详细解答啊，以前讨论过的人都没这个疑问吗？都没人问的

in which为什么可以修饰response？

manhattan SC里面有个点我觉得可以回答这个问题(Page 234, Modifiers: Exceptions to the touch rule)：

按manhattan的解释，response to cuts and sprains in which...句型中，to cuts and sprains是修饰response的成分，如果没有to cuts and sprains，response就没有意义了（因为这个句子就是在比较两个不同的response，要是这个response没有修饰，它就没意义了）。

因此to cuts and sprains必须紧跟response，而不能变成response in which...to cuts and sprains

一言以蔽之，把to cuts and sprains看成定语，in which修饰response

另，it指代the injured area

觉得这题BT，总结下思路，以后好挖帖复习。。。借楼主地方哈。。

1. with...放在句中，可向前修饰，也可向后修饰，歧义，排除AC
2. where只能修饰具体地点，排除B
3. instead和unlike语义重复，排除E

好，所以按照KIKIMM的引据，应该不管是in wich 还是with的向前歧义修饰其实都是修饰response的哈？这样我倒是觉得比较合理了.
