我看到的版本给的答案是E但是我不知道这个答案是否可信

我个人认为D是对的 所以想请教大家

我觉得D肯定是不对的，因为than后面的比较对象是burning....与前面的vehicles不一致。

但是E我也怀疑有问题，因为less of可以修饰复数形式的pollutants吗？我不确定。
