请教关于名词所有格

记得语法书上说有生命得东西可以用 ‘s，没有生命得一般用  of。
比如  Tom's gitar. 和 mechines of this factory.
可是有些题目得正确答案用得名词所有格和这种说法不符，下面是一个例子

大全139.    As the etched lines on computer memory chips have become thinner and the chips’ circuits more complex, both the power of the chips and the electronic devices they drive have vastly increased.
(A) the chips’ circuits more complex, both the power of the chips and the electronic devices they drive have
(B) the chips’ circuits more complex, the power of both the chips and the electronic devices they drive has
(C) the chips’ circuits are more complex, both the power of the chips and the electronic devices they drive has
(D) their circuits are more complex, the power of both the chips and the electronic devices they drive have
(E) their circuits more complex, both the power of the chips and the electronic devices they drive have

正确答案是B，请大侠们解释一下名词所有格在GMAT中的用法，谢谢。

我认为语法书上说得未必就是真理吧，语言是很变通的

可是记得有一道语法题（忘了是OG还是XDF），当时的解释就是非生命名词不能用's 用of ，我还没找到，题太多了。

MM，做语法题的时候，首先要了解此题到底要考什么？先抓住重点，进行排除，余下的再用一些技巧来做。个人的看法。不用用单一的语法来做题。

还有GMAT中有些题目是很特殊的，需要总结。

i think it is not always true. u can say "China's financial industry" or "the finanicial industry of China". The former reads more smooth and fast-flowing

i believe the principle is true, but nothing is absolute. you need to see case by case
