好像关于amount的问题没有被NN们看见，因为还没想通，所以找来了GWD的一道有amount的题再问问？

上述这个题C是正确答案。amount指的是4000个drive-ins的数量，还有用fewer来做比较，应该是可以指可数名词数量的吧？

那么大全701这道题A选项中amount of stimuli的不妥之处是什么呢？

"a means to" is the phrase, it's just idiomism...

as far as "amount" vs "number", amount should work with both 可数 and 不可数.  However, given that it's "infinite X", number is a match for "inifite" as in Math we often say "finite number", "infinite number".  It's awkard to say "infinite amount" as "amount" normally works with "small" "huge" etc.
