twice + 名词；twice+as...as...;twice more than...

D,E用two times，错

A as...as 后无代词，或名词，无法比较，错

B it出现，这里第二个as之后要比较的是1970的人口，it出现引起歧义；事实上AS和than之后出现it是很忌讳的，大多数错，应该用that或those

C 纠正了B中的错误，虽然也出现了it，但实际比较的是what，属于twice+名词。选C

从句主语Napoleon’s army，主句主语it

排除ABCD，它们都在选项中出现their或they，不对称
