比较主语时, 应补出谓语助动词?-求助

白勇老师语法中讲到, 比较主语时, 应补出谓语助动词, 可以下两例, 都不符合这个规律,
请各位帮忙看一下:

exmaple1: A study commissioned by the Department of Agriculture showed that if calved exercise and associate with other calves, they require less medication and gain weight more quickly than those raised in confinement.

note: the correct answer did not use "than those raised in confienment do".

example2: Salt deposits and moisture threten to destroy the Mohenjo-Daro excavation in Pakistan, the site of an acient civilizations that flourished at the same time as the civilization in the Nile delta and the river valleys of the Tigris and Euphrates.

Note: the correct answer did not use "as the civilization in.... did".

是因为这里不补出谓语助动词也不会造成歧义, 所以没有补吗? 可是别的类似的题, 好多
都是严格补齐的. 是不是这两个例子有特别的地方?
还是说明, ETS 出题不严谨?

没有岐义的就不用补,是省略.

一般说来：“比较主语时, 应补出谓语助动词”，但是在具体做题的时候，答案是比较出来的。for example:
Tom is taller than I am.
Tom is taller than I.
这两句话都没错，上面的更正规。

好像应该是尽量补出谓语吧！如果没有歧义的话省略会更简洁的！
其实像这种省略（根据我的感觉）不是很多，因而这个原则还是好用的。只是95%的正确率啊！！
如果再做题的过程中发现补出谓语的那一项有明显的其他错误的话，可以考虑这种省略了！！

linlin真是了得，了得，了得，了得...... 偶正在努力，争取月内体会到95%的感觉。尽管95%的感觉现在还没有真正掌握，但是没有这95%的感觉带来的麻烦却已经颇有体会。专家指出，没有这95%的感觉只能靠个5%的分数，而偶的目标不可能是仅仅5%，所以欧必须努力去理解这95%的感觉。当然，如果linlin能不吝施教，或许偶们可以更快融会贯通原则公理，摆脱5%的命运。

双谓语 require 和gain ，不补。
