想问一下~这两道题明明都是price 为什么858就在比较价格而872可以直接比较年份呢？

先看858

B. Prices at the producer level are only 1.3 percent higher now than those of a year ago and are going down,

为什么不选A要选B？我们抛开后面，只看前面部分。
先看A，从结构上来看，我们发现它在比较两个句子
貌似很完美的比较，那么把省略的部分补齐，看看是什么样子：

A. Prices at the producer level are only 1.3 percent higher now than prices at the producer level were a year ago and are going down...

比较中省略要做的事是省略一样的成分，那么我们重新省略上个句子：

A. Prices at the producer level are only 1.3 percent higher now than were a year ago and are going down...

发现了吧，这个were去哪里了呢？were和are是不同的时态，因此不能被省略，所以这是一个错误的比较。

再来看B，than后面是个代词+of结构，应该是名词的比较。
还原一下：

B. Prices at the producer level are only 1.3 percent higher now than prices at the producer level of a year ago and are going down,

比较很工整，prices now和prices of a year ago比较，所以正确。

再来看872：
A. Heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this year than last

比较在this year和last之间，我们可以认为它在比较两个时间。
那么还原：

A. Heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this year than heating-oil prices last year

我们这里就不用像858那样，把are expected to放进去。因为作者想表达的不是今年的期待和去年的期待。
所以看上去就是这样：

A. Heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this year than heating-oil prices last year

这样就很清楚的表明，我们在比较的是prices this year和prices last year了。

而把两个放在一起看，你会发现，事实上这两道题比较的东西是一样的。

Prices are higher this year than those last year

Prices at the producer level are only 1.3 percent higher now than those of a year ago

比较的都是两个时间段的价格，只是一个是those last year, 所以可以直接省略those，一个接的是 a year ago, 要说sth of a year ago，所以不能省掉those。

其实都是今年的价格和去年/一年前的价格在比较。只是last year是个副词短语 prices last year可以省略prices。而a year ago是名词短语，如果说一年前的价格，prices of a year ago则不能省略of。

我可以这样理解吗？
