In B, trying that it metabolize is ungrammatical. The noun attempt could follow organism's; also, it would parallel the noun enzymes, and parallelism is needed here because the sentence uses the linking verb are to equate enzymes and attempt.

上面为什么不用attempts,而用attempt,这样单复数就不一致了呀?毕竟前面是enzymes和are, 而后面却是attempt呀.请教NN!

主语和宾语之间没有什么绝对的单复数一致的关系。比如：

They are cowboys.
We are a team.

可是that引导的从句是修饰enzyme的呀,总不能说attempt是enzyme吧.另外也不能说he is cowboys呀? 还是不太明白,至少我认为主语如果是单数,宾语应该不能是复数吧.继续请教NN!

在这个that 从句中，that-是修饰enzymes没错，所以从句中用are;

doxin这种化学物质导致了酶的产生是的意图是为了新陈代谢（分解）这种化学物质，这里说的一种意图，所以应该用单数形式

再举一个例子

这样的情况多发生在另一个名词是抽象名词 如culture, attempt 时

如果名词是具体名词 在一般情况下要求单复数对应

这道题可以迅速用排除法来做的，1 优于定律：抽象名词优于动名词，所以要用attempt不用trying；2 CD里attempt to try语意重复，排除。只剩E是正确的。

建议James兄弟注意主考点就好了，OG的SC每一题都有明显的主要的考点，根据这些考点很快就可以把题做出来。ETS绝对不会单考某一个小小的单复数的考点，并且将这个考点作为主要解题依据的。偶们是为了拿分而复习的，这些小细节放过吧。

P.S.我总结下来，考单复数的题无非两种考法：1 主谓搭配 2 指代。本题两者皆不是，不要太在意。
