In E ,"after Katharine Graham's becoming its publisher" is wordy and unclear.
Moreover, the original sentence of A puts emphasize on the fact that KG became the publisher, and then the latter things happened. The choice of E changes the original meaning.

第一， ”Katharine Graham's becoming its publisher“ 是一个名词结构想表达一个完整句子（主系表结构）的意思，不如原句中完整句子的表达好；
第二，原句中两个强调句的表达很清楚，并且很对称。
