CE明显错。AD错在the sandpipers vanishing ，sandpipers’ vanishing 和比较对象the grassy fields and old pastures 不并列吧，比较的是具体的事物，而不是事件。

从意思上将，和
the grassy fields and old pastures一样，the bird itself 也是由于……的原因而消失的

like表示比喻，like a，b。。。a,b 是具有可比性的名词，所以cde马上就可以排除
a中说sandpipers is a result, 这样的表达显然是错误的，如果sandpiper不知道是什么的话可以将grassy fields and old pastures带入，因为它们可以类比
grassy fields and old pastures is a result, 看出来了吧
b的表达很好首先sandpiper在前面已经提过，再用sandpiper看起来不舒服，所以用the bird itself，而且明确了the bird itself is vanishing in the northeastern United States as a result of。。。。多么完美的句子呀！！
