10.  The modern automobile is a           composed of more than 14,000 parts.



(A)  complex technical system               (B)  system of complex technical



(C)  complex technical system that            (D)  system is technically complex



答案是A,但岂不成了双谓语,是否应选C,转变为从句就没有任何问题?


      According to some critics, the novels of William Burroughs demonstrate the major hazard of absurd literature,_________ tendency toward overembellishment and incoherence.


A notwithstanding                                   B besides


C us a                                                   D is


答案是D, 也是双谓语的问题.


Copper________ use by humans and is second only to iron in its utility through the ages.


A the first metal                                      B was the first metal


C the first metal that                               D being the first metal


答案是B,但同一句话可以有不同的时态吗?

完整的句子是：the modern automobile is a complex technical system which is composed of ....


      According to some critics, the novels of William Burroughs demonstrate the major hazard of absurd literature,_________ tendency toward overembellishment and incoherence.

答案是D, 也是双谓语的问题.


原句中的that 被省略了，完整的句子是：the novels demonstrate that the major hazard is tendency toward...



Copper________ use by humans and is second only to iron in its utility through the ages.


A the first metal                                      B was the first metal


C the first metal that                               D being the first metal


答案是B,但同一句话可以有不同的时态吗?

是可以的，关键是其它选项都有明显错误

这里省略了that is 。记得同进同出原则吗


      According to some critics, the novels of William Burroughs demonstrate the major hazard of absurd literature,_________ tendency toward overembellishment and incoherence.


A notwithstanding                                   B besides


C us a                                                   D is


答案是D, 也是双谓语的问题.


这里也是省略。


Copper________ use by humans and is second only to iron in its utility through the ages.


A the first metal                                      B was the first metal


C the first metal that                               D being the first metal


答案是B,但同一句话可以有不同的时态吗?


这里前面的说得是过去被应用，后面说得是事实。按根据句子意思作答。

呵呵，我还纳闷为何marshial说是省略呢。。。。原来自己也晕啦。


估计is前面的逗号是没有的。。。。。


1。主语是novels，怎么能用单数呢？


2。novel is tendency,,,,这逻辑上也不对。


is的主语应该是the major hurt................

这类题很容易与双谓语的情况混淆,大家做这类题有何经验或技巧?


象这种可能引起歧义的定从可直接省略that,which吗?


又如:


All eels spawn in the sea, the eggs hatching into transparentm ribbonlike larvae_______,feeding until they metamorphose into small eels.


A that drift about                                            B drift about


C about drifting                                              D drift about them


此题的答案是A而不是C,也就是说that不可省,那么,可省与不可省要如何判别?

答案是D,

这题问题多多呀。

首先如果前面有逗号， 肯定不选D。我选B。 主谓之间不可能有逗号。

不管是B还是D都有一个问题。tendency 从来都是a tendency, the tendency, tendicies.  跟何况后面还有一个toward ..... 进一步限定。
