你的理解有一定的道理，但是这就是ETS的狡猾之处。

D的since从句里没有谓语.

1. E 表达的就是 “根据文章的意思,应是erosion, prehistoric glacier movement, and volcanic activity 三个动作导致把古老的,含金的河床抛到表面,”

2. D. 简化句子结构 Perspecting for gold was a easy task since erosion, movement and activity。

since 之后是3个名词而不是完整的原因从句，所以 D 不对。
