Ok this one is difficult for me to explain bc we just know this as proper english and I'm not too sure the technical reason. We use "nor" when we have two phrases that are in the same category, here we have "do not have" and "likely to have" which are both describing schools. Schools here is "they". Example: I have concluded that my students have not yet studied, nor are they likely to study, for tomorrow's English Exam. two categories "not yet" and "not likey to" in the same topic "study". The subject is "they": "my students" the answer from my american friend whose major is english |
