C: because ... so    错
E: ability of doing    错 OG 117 明确指出这种用法 unidiomatic ，还有，即使无此错误，and 连接的两部分应该平行对应，不应该分词和不定时同时出现；另外，produce offspring of large numbers 用法也有问题，这里应强调 large numbers
比较容易迷糊的选项是 A，单从语法角度讲， A不错，但从意思上分析，（尤其和 D 比较），D 优。这里讲由于昆虫具备某些能力，所以才如何如何。而 A 的意思是应为他们能做甲和乙，因此如何如何。逻辑意思有差距。

对于 D，大家可能对 capability to 的用法有怀疑，我查了牛津字典，capability to do sth和  capability of doing sth 均可。另外，OG 87 题，就有 capability to 的用法。
在此题中， their capability to reproduce  and to produce  完美搭配，yearly 也好过each year
因此， D 最佳。
