Industrialist from the country Distopia were accused of promoting the Distopian intervention in the Arcadian civil war merely to insure that the industrialists’ facilities in Arcadia made substantial profit during the war. Yet this cannot be the motive since, as the Distopians foresaw, Distopia’s federal expenses for the intervention were eight billion dollars, whereas, during the war, profit from the Distopia’s industrialists’ facilities in Arcadia totaled only four billion dollars.

Which of following, if true, exposes a serious flaw in the argument made in the second sentence above?

B) The largest proportion of Distopia’s federal expenses is borne by those who receive no significant industrial profit.

C) Most Distopia’s industrialists’ facilities located in Arcadia are expected to maintain the level profits they received during the war.

问题是问第二句的缺陷啊？

为什么答案是B？不是C?

问第二句的缺陷也就是削弱第二句。第二句说D市在A市投入的比他从A获得的利润要多，否定了他干预A的内战是为了图利。那么削弱这句话就要说其实D是可以获得利润的。

B说D市的大部分开支是有那些没有获得较多利润的人承担的，那就是说D通过别人的投入来获取利润，而那些投入利润的人却没有获得利润。所以虚弱了D的辩解。

C说D的那些位于A的工业设施将在战中保持利润，这并没有威胁到第二句，如果D的利润保持正常水平，而他的投入资金很多，依然可以支持第二句，而不能削弱。

可是还有些地方不明白.

B项说D通过别人的投入来获取利润，而那些投入利润的人却没有获得利润。

也就是把D国的投入分为两部分咯?一部分获利,另一部分没有.也并没有说明D国整体是获利的啊?

C项说战后还能保持利润,不是说明D国可以从以后的利润中获取利益吗?

我的理解是不是有问题啊?希望大家帮我纠正一下

不好意思，之前没看见，现在再补充一下我的意见吧。

题干问说的是industrialists’ facilities会获利，而不是你所认为的整个industry获利，而是它facilities的那部分。那么如果像B所说的那样，expense是又其它部分承担，那么这个facilities部分就会获利啊。

C仅仅说在A的industry保持战中的利润，但是利润多少？够不够弥补expense？并没有说明啊～

这是我得理解，请执教！
