in 1837 是个时间点，只用过去时;如果时间段，可考虑完成时

谢谢您，不过您能不能把句子成分说一下呢，那个in which到底是谁的定语从句呢，看不懂。。。。
还有，我知道现在完成时必须有时间段，但是过去完成时不是就是过去的过去就可以用么，也一定有时间短吗
