have increasing difficulties中increasing是形容词，
have increased difficulties中的increased是动词，不是形容词

强调的明明是某物增加了某某的困难，当然选b.选e强调的是状态

difficulty单数是侧重在抽象的困难，如这事有难度；difficulties是侧重在具体的难度上，如完成这事有很多困难。

I feel that "increased" here is not a verb. It is used as an adj, It is not logical if the pigeon have increased difficulty itself. it should be the fact that "removing olfactory nerves" increased the pigeon's difficulty in home.

Do not know it is right, any opnion?

agree。 increased: 增加的，表以完成的； increasing:日益增加的,表进行中的
