关于宾语从句平行带不带that的问题求解

The financial crash of October 1987 demonstrated that the world’s capital markets are integrated more closely than never before and events in one part of the global village may be transmitted to the rest of the village — almost instantaneously.

(A) integrated more closely than never before and
(B) closely integrated more than ever before so
(C) more closely integrated as never before while
(D) more closely integrated than ever before and that
(E) more than ever before closely integrated as

答案是D
意味着这个crash demonstrate了两件事 that...AND that...
想问在这里第二个that真的必要吗？如果去掉that可以吗？

什么时候这样并列的两个句子可以不加that呢
eg。sth demonstrate that 。。。and。。。

that不能去掉。

该题中，The financial crash 。。。demonstrated that。。。and that events in one part of the global village may be。。。
两个that从句是平行的宾语从句，如果省略后一个that，则后一个从句可能变成与the financial crash demonstrated that这个主句平行，引起句意分歧。

只有that引导宾语从句时才能被省略。
而GMAT中，如果有两个平行的宾语从句，就不会省略that。

OG16-SC-130正确例句：Australian embryologists have found evidence to suggest that the elephant is descended from an aquatic animal and that its trunk originally evolved as a kind of snorkel.
