Topic 4
Some people prefer to obtain the knowledge from their experience, while others choose to learn by books. In my opinion, both paths can give us very important knowledge.
First of all, knowledge gained from books has a wider range than that from experience. Now the local library contains so many books in different fields that we can learn nearly everything from it. It is impossible for us to experience everything we want to learn. For example, through geography writing, we can travel to anywhere and need not to go outdoors. Another advantage of getting knowledge from books is that the knowledge we get is very systematic. The theories in the books are summarized by many scholars and organized carefully. By reading these books, we can acquire more entirely and clearly knowledge.
But getting knowledge from books still has a little deficiency. The knowledge from books may be out of date. The books can only tell us about what people found in the past. Everyday it comes out so many new inventions and new products, but we can not find them in the books. And sometimes the theory in the books may be wrong. For example, many years ago, the students were told that the earth was flat. So the knowledge gained from experience is also very important.
Furthermore, the books are not able to teach us everything. For example, if we want to study swimming, we can not just depend on a book. The book can only tell us how to swim, but if we do not really swim by ourselves, we can never know how to swim. Also, the knowledge obtained from experience can make the knowledge more comprehensive and remain fresh in our memories.
So, as to which source is more important, in my opinion, both are very important. Through the book, we can get the knowledge that we can never get from experience. And because that “the truth comes from practices and experience”, we must experience as many as possible by ourselves to get the truth.
写这篇文章的时候我的思路很乱,几次修改我的论点,到了最后写完的时候也不知道应该选用什么论点,请大家给我点指点好吗?多谢大家!
