1. Recent estimates predict that between 1982 and 1995 the greatest increase in the number of people employed will be the category of low-paying service occupations. This category, however , will not increase its share of total employment, whereas the category of high-paying service occupations will increase its share.

If the estimates above are accurate, which of the following conclusions can be drawn?

The answer is:
A. In 1982 more people were working in low-paying service occupations than were working in high-paying service occupations.

2.For a local governmentto outlaw all strikes by its workers is a costly mistake, because all its labor disputes must then settled by binding arbitration, without any negotiated public-sector labor settlements guiding the arbitrators. Strikes should be outlawed only for categories of public-sector workers for whose services no acceptable substitute exists.

The statements above best support which of the following conclusions?

Answer:

Binding arbitration tends to be more advantageous for public-service workers where it if the only available means of settling labor disputes with such workers.

3.Parasitic wasps lay their eggs directly into the eggs of various host insects in exactly the right numbers for any suitable size of host egg. If they laid too many eggs in a host egg, the developing wasp larvae would compete with each other to the death for nutrients and space. If too few eggs were laid, portions of the host egg would decay, killing the wasp larvae.

Which of the following conclusions can properly be drawn from the information above?

Answer:

The size of the smallest host egg that a wasp could theoretically parasitize can be determined from the wasp's egg-laying behavior.

1.
B. In 1995 more people will be working in high-paying service occupations than will be working in low-paying service occupations.
C.Nonservice occupations will account for the same share of total employment in 1995 as in 1982.
D. Many of the people who were working in low-paying service occupations in 1982 will be working in high-paying service occupations by 1995.
E. The rate of growth for low-paying service occupations will be greater than the overall rate of employment growth between 1982 and 1995.

2.
A.When public-service workers are permitted to strike , contract negotiations with those workers are typically settled without a strike.
B.Where strikes by all categories of public-sector workers are outlawed, no acceptable substitutes for the services provided by any of those workers are available.
D.Most categories of public-sector workers have no counterparts in the private sector.
E. A strike by workers in a local government is unlikely to be settled without help from the arbitrator.

3.
B. Host insects lack any effective defenses against the form of predation practiced by parasitic wasps.
C. Parasitic wasps learn from experience how manyeggs to lay into the eggs of different host species.
D.Failure to lay enough eggs would lead to the death of the developing wasp larvae more quickly than would laying too many eggs.
E. Parasitic wasps use visual clues to calculate the size of a host egg.

because all its labor disputes must then settled by binding arbitration,作者说outlaw all strikes by its workers 是错误的。
outlaw all strikes by its workers 也是在这种情况下outlaw all strikes by its workers 是优先选择,因此......

Thanks, perfection!
But I still can't understand the 2nd question.
对于第一句我是这么理解的,作者说outlaw all strikes by its workers 是错误的,because all its labor disputes must then settled by binding arbitration。
