打算申请今年和明年的phd of finance/master of financial mathematics/master of computational finance/master of mathematics focus on actuary.
background: currently enrolled in an ece phd program of a us state univ, ta position
                  Dual BS in EE&CS from a top engineering school in china(gpa 3.75)
                  gre (v/q/a) 770/790/800
                  toefl 57/68/64(4.5)
                  strong programming background in c/c++/java
math courses taken:calculas(single/multiple variables),linear algebra,complex variable function,desrecte mathmatics,probabilty&stastics,math modelling

感觉本科finance相关背景不够，申请finance phd的几率不大。数学和编程背景对申请f math可能有一点帮助。目标是拿到 f math 的financial aid.这个偏重math的program是不是
对数学背景有很强的要求呢，有没有必要考math sub作为补充。

math sub is totally unnecessary for PHD in finance, needless to say master's degree.
You must prove that you have a strong research potential and explain why you want to transfer.
For PHD in finance, the most important is calculas and econometrics.
