in terms of MBA, Ivey is more famous and harder to get in than Rotman. in terms of research, Rotman is in general stronger than Ivey. but i don't think Rotman's marketing is strong compard to Ivey's. I would say Ivey's marketing is pretty good and at least as good as Rotman's and likely better.

Didn't know you have two offers. Now you have a tough decision to make. UT and UBC are generally considered better research school than Ivey. I heard UT's graduates even find positions in schools like INSEAD and Columbia. Toronto may also be a better place to spend your next four years.

On the other side, however, Ivey is expanding its PhD program aggressively over the past years. Check out the four volumes of Enquiring Mind reports at www.ivey.uwo.ca/Research/Enq_Mind.htm, and you will see that they are pretty serious about promoting their doctoral program to a matching postion with its prestigious MBA program. The first group of PhD graduates after the expansion are still not in job market, so it might be too early to judge that Ivey's graduates will not have placements as good as what Toronto's graduates get.

In your case, you need to do more homework. Betther dig deeper into the faculty profie or ask them to provide you with subjective comparision and clarification of the differences between the two schools.

I am sorry to make it confused. Actually I don't have those two offers. I got an offer from Ivey but am still waiting for the result from U of T. I have not heard anything from U of T and think that I may be put in the waiting list.

I asked the above question is to see whether I should wait for U of T. I have asked a phd graduate from U of T and she told me that it is not a big deal to choose either one since she heard quite a lot of positive comments about IVEY in recent years, which is consistent with what rongdong said.

Ivey is best. After you graduate from Ivey, you don't need to worry about finding a job. because before you graduate, all the big companies, famous banks will come to Western to interviwe you, and give you a job offer usually. and the wage in a first year is usually over 15000/year even if you just get a honor bachelor.
