121.The spacing of the four holes on a fragment of a bone flute excavated at a Neanderthal campsite is just what is required to play the third through sixth notes of the diatonic scale—the seven-note musical scale used in much of Western music since the Renaissance. Musicologists therefore hypothesize that the diatonic musical scale was developed and used thousands of years before it was adopted by Western musicians.
Which of the following, iftrue, most strongly supports the hypothesis?

(A) Bone flutes were probably the only musical instrument made by Neanderthals.
(B) No musical instrument that is known to have used a diatonic scale is of an earlier date than the flute found at the Neanderthal campsite.

哪位大神指导一下这一题的做题思路？个人感觉这道题的strengthen的点比较偏，总之不知道为什么E可以加强结论并且是如何加强结论的。有些解释是说这题是assumption的提醒，但也是有点讲不通。
小女子在美帝，孤军奋战中，想破脑袋了，思路还是不怎么清晰。

assumption和strengthen题型是完全没有区别的，对待方法应该是相同的。
对于加强/假设这类题型，我们可以对选项取非，观察是否可以削弱来判断。（在逻辑的评估中，其实没有加强这一种，只有削弱，所以很多GMAT考题在命题的时候就是自己将削弱取非而出的加强考题）。
这种题目属于果因推理，由此可知，只要能削弱原文中的因果联系就可以削弱这个推理。那么现在我们对(E)取非，意思是：用于制作the Neanderthal flute的骨头不足够长如此以至于表演全音阶。试想，如果骨头本身无法表演全音阶，那么肯定这个骨头设计之初就不是为了表演the diatonic musical scale的（如果是为了表演the diatonic musical scale，那怎么也得找一个能表演全音阶的吧）。因此，原文推理中的因果联系被本选项削弱，即，就算发现了一个能表演某些音阶的骨头，也不能证明是因为当时的人掌握了the diatonic musical scale的技术（因为这个骨头设计之初就不是为了表演全音阶的，不能表演全音阶，自然就谈不上掌握the diatonic musical scale这门技术了）。

毕老师，这个assumption和strengthen还是有一点区别的，可以加强的不一定是假设，但假设一定是加强。。。
